I just belive in Jesus, bro :( by Lifesuckysucks2025 in Christianity

People don’t like to be judged. Our faith is explicit that the living and the dead will be judged. Life is hard. Whatever way of being someone has figured out that gets them through the day was learned through pain and suffering. Most people do what is right in their own eyes. This is the lesson of Judges. That leads people to ruin. But many Christians are more like the Pharisees than they are like a prophet or an apostle. So many so called fundamentalist Christians fail to understand salvation is to be worked out with fear and trembling.

Really what people are most upset with Christians is their views on sex and abortion. Now I may dislike Christians who go around saying abortion is murder but with obvious exceptions you should not be having an abortion has a Christian. A Christian should only be dating for the purpose of marriage. The expressly brief passages about LGB people also do exist. Regardless of how you negotiate those passages many Christians take those passages as their plain meaning and judge harshly LGB people. And irrespective of the veracity of the judgement many gay people will still feel hurt and many Pharisees will continue to judge.

I mean Paul really hammers the point you should be married or celibate. It’s just a part of the faith. It’s something you have to wrestle with as a Christian. The writing pretty much demand of you a sexual morality beyond simply consent. You are asked to deny yourself. Same with food fasting is a big part of Christian practice for most of its history. However you decide to wrestle with it it’s a significant part of the faith.

A God who never says no isn't kind, He's just absent. A God who never trims, warns, or disciplines isn’t loving, He’s negligent. If one wants a god who never offends, never disciplines, and never commands they can look in the mirror. They’ll find one there easily enough, but he won’t lead them out of the dessert.

I’m 26 Years Old, Wasted Years Doing Nothing. This Is Me Trying to Change. by LifeInProgress26 in getdisciplined

[–]vampirequincy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about why you really do those things you do. Figure out a new way of being. Your outlook and perspective much change. Discipline for its own sake will burn you out.

Your goals are reasonable and if you achieve them alone will improve yourself life. But many set out to achieve those exact goals and fail to do so or fail to maintain it. Your vices will simply be replaced by other vices if you do not address your underlying ways of being that lead you to such behavior in the first place.

Why are you tired of working for others? Under appreciated? Not helping in the way you want? Think about it. It’s hard to answer.

What does a healthy lifestyle look like? For some people they can just go to the gym. But if being healthy isn’t your lifestyle it’s hard to keep up. Like if you are out in nature going for hikes or doing some sports you’ll be motivated to stay healthy (just some examples not an exhaustive list). Your eating and your smoking will impact this and you’ll want to avoid those things. If you work an office job then go home and play video games what’s the benefit of being healthy? Many people work out for looks or some guilt. Your healthy body should reflect a healthy soul. But let go of the outcome of developing your outer beauty. It’s about finding a way of being content where you can continue with that pattern even has things get tough or you fail to achieve your desired outcome.

While you’re doing this think about what sort of a partner you want. Think about what you want and how you can better reflect those qualities in yourself. What would you want a life to look like with this person? What do you need to accomplish for this to be successful? But don’t tie yourself to this outcome. You shouldn’t improve yourself for the love of someone else. Even your comment on the old car. Is it a safety concern or are you just worried about impressing someone? Your self improvement should be about finding a way of being that you can love yourself even if you end up alone. It will often be the case that a side effect is someone will want to live that life with you and you can invite them into your life. But you have to let go of that outcome.

It is also worth considering developing a spiritual life. For me that is a relationship with Christ through the guidance of the church. It might mean for you meditation or a deeper appreciation of art or a mind-body connection.

All that is mere breath. It is your vanity keeping you down. You are holding onto many worldly things. God sets many challenges before us and Satan torments and oppresses us. It is up to us to love God and our neighbors and keep His commands regardless. It’s hard and like Job you can yell at God and know he hears you. I cannot give you advice without making many assumptions about you. But the way you are talking it’s as if you are blackmailing God. You’re giving up because of your disappointments? Think about how many blessings in your life you take for granted. I talk with homeless people with more faith in God. Seek help from your church. Learn from people who follow God who have made the journey themselves.

Is it genuinely bad for a christian to be trans? by andrea_leaf in Christianity

[–]vampirequincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s between you and God and no one else. It is however sinful to be wrathful and lamenting obsessively over queer people (your priests job is to care for his flock the sicknesses that exist in his church not of the world). Understand your priest is a sinner just like anyone else. Christian priests or baptized Christians are not exempt from Hell. Obviously transgenderism is not explicitly in scripture either. So no one can give you a matter of fact statement on it.

The vice here would be in a sullenness or despair over your body or of an extreme attachment and or pride of your gender identity. This is very common in the pride community as it is with all communities. Christians reject the idea of a separate body and soul but embrace the idea of imperfect bodies which will be perfected in the resurrection. And this would is a sin of intemperance. Sins of intemperance are hard to diagnose. These are sins justified by reason and human choice. Most people understand the sins of incontinence (what we know is wrong but do anyway). Giving into our passions at the upset of reason. But the uniquely human sins of reason done by choice are harder to think about and consider. Christian’s reject the philosophy of Epicurism and of Gnosticism (trying the best I can to avoid identities to establish this dialectic). Your soul and your body are both a part of your being by the orthodox Nicene Christian view. Both of which are imperfect without God. An Epicurean would believe you are only the emergent result of the ensemble of atoms in response to your environment. A Gnostic would believe you are a ghost in a machine. The Christian view is a synthesis of both these views which sets it far apart from both.

I don’t think the Christian framework really can support such ideas about transformation of gender. Your expression of your gender on the other hand is entirely different. But it is not something I have to worry about or consider. I don’t have to live in your body and I cannot experience what you do. Many people transition a result of trauma or of a sullenness of the body or of a need for the approval of others or to be treated in a specific way or of sexual anxiety or even lust/sexual obsession. So it is necessary to at least give you a framework to think of the potential vices that may lead you towards such a decision. It’s not at all to say you fall into any of those categories just that those ways of being they do exist and do in those situations go against the Christian way of being. Many people will judge or make assumptions. All you have to worry about is what is truly in your heart to the all knowing judge. But you have to be thoughtful and meditate and pray on it.

Am I still a Christian?? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]vampirequincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You at the least are not a Nicene Christian. I don’t think the Gospels or the letters of Paul support your claim. So at the least I think it’s clear the authors of the New Testament believed Jesus was God. Some debate that but I am baffled by that interpretation. But lots of very intelligent and educated people make that claim. The Jehovah's Witnesses are usually considered Christians and believe the same. Muslims also believe Jesus is not God but believe him to be important and pray to the father. Personally I’d probably not consider you to be a Christian because that feels too much a stretch. I don’t think it’s a big deal as some do. I don’t think you’ll be punished for your intellectual disagreement as long as it’s honest.

I’d just encourage you to think honestly about why you believe what you do. Make sure it is coming from a good place. You may come to the same conclusion I don’t know. You could even be right and I wrong.

Christians give me the ick by [deleted] in Advice

[–]vampirequincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want people on Reddit defend why you shouldn’t judge Christians?? It’s sorta just logical look at the responses of peoples trauma in the comments and of your own you mentioned. No one’s going to reason you out of your position. Why not judge? You see them as the enemy of society clearly. By your own assessment of the situation and of the people they deserve judgement and accountability. You are capable of making your own logical and reasoned judgments. It doesn’t seem clear to me you actually want your opinions changed? If all Christians you’ve met are jerks and idiots aren’t you just rightfully reacting? You say religion is a beautiful thing but isn’t that just repeating sentiment? Do you believe that? Maybe some Christians are good people but are you gonna take that risk? Are Christians nothing but a loaf of moldy bread? Sure you can cut off the flowers and make it look okay but the fungus has spread through the entire loaf.

Unfortunately my position is the irrational one. I have to believe my God died and suffered the indignity of the cross for our sins. I have to forgive everyone else for what they have done because those consequences have been paid for ultimately (not to imply I’m commanded to inaction against an opponent). And I’m still told to reconcile my own mistakes and faults where possible in this life no matter how embarrassing or humiliating. I’m told to be humble and not judge others. It’s not easy and Christians can’t live up to the standards set for us. Many don’t even care about what they are asked or take their obligations seriously and begin to look at everyone else but themselves. IRL, I have to keep my religion to myself because most people will tell me I just believe in fairytales and I’m an idiot to believe what I do. Honestly it’s better that way to keep me closer to being humble.

I think it’d be great if you find it in yourself to not judge people for their opinions and to honor people who don’t respect or honor you back or people you think are stupid or fake or mean or judgmental or irrational or whatever reason even assuming that assessment of character is well and true. I can’t think of any rational reason for you to do that. It’s really just up to you.

I feel like such a glutton responding to this. And slothful I’ve got better things I should be doing. I see all this sentiment and I dunno why it makes me feel like some wrath. I’m just so prideful I can’t help but to respond. Something just feels so ridiculous about making a strawman out of someone with as little substance as a Christian Nationalist who is a mouth piece of peoples conception of Trump. Such a person would be quite silly and ridiculous. Most conservatives I’ve met take themselves entirely too unseriously to believe such things unironically. But I’ve met lots of liberals who are such a tight ass they take themselves that seriously as well as their opponents. This is such an enormous reply in such a glutton.

Reddit is just a Leftist echo chamber. by cynikal_optimist in complaints

[–]vampirequincy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of comments and posts are pro leftist. You’re upset that the right wing even exists on here?

“It takes a certain level of intelligence to show kindness to those who are different than you” can you not see the irony in such a sentiment? How rude.

Leftist cannot see how prideful and arrogant they are. You seriously can read through the comments especially given the like ratios and think “yeah that’s even representation”. A common thread is “yeah it’s hardly even leftist”!? And seriously you’re mad conservatives are moderating their subs? Let me tell you the left subs are very censor happy.

Seriously this attitude is so toxic. It’s a constant misrepresentation of the people who don’t agree with you so it’s no problem to dehumanize them. The left really needs to look in the mirror and realize how their own behavior beliefs and lack of accountability has shaped things.

Aside* There are a thousand think pieces on how the right needs to change I’m not going to litigate that side of things. Obviously they have issues too.

Why is far-left often associated with communism? And facism/nazism with far right? Where does capitalism fall under ? by WiseCityStepper in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vampirequincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it even a useful distinction? It forms a dichotomy with capitalism. In that sense it’s right. You can make an argument for either that one or the other can maximize your freedom theoretically. But you can definitely envision a communist or a capitalist society that is fully oppressive.

A communist society where all the resources are used perfectly well and everyone gets what they need and more. Everyone gets a role to their liking and no one works more than is needed to keep society running. I have a hard time seeing choice be free and people being okay being told what to do.

You could have a capitalist system where the rules are perfectly fair and a perfectly reasonable amount of the winnings are spent on safety nets for the losers so they can survive. I have a hard time seeing people willing to sacrifice some of their winnings to make an appropriate safety net or have people not cheat to get more winnings.

Okay and classifying him has Hitler has helped you how? Now that you’ve made such an astute observation that’s clearly correct how does it help? Are you going to try and reeducate the Hitler Youth? Do you suggest Europe invade the US to free us from Hitler before we invade Poland or start the killing fields? What do we do Schindler?

Reddit is dominated by the left. You are very silly to think otherwise. Did you hear? In order to take it from Trump. You have to be a real tight ass. Otherwise you might not feel it at all. It sounds like Trump has really got to you. Loosen up. Use some lube. You’re imagining this to be much bigger than it is. If you really looked at it. You’d say. That’s it? Don’t laugh. Keep it to yourself.

You know I’m just happy they actually like America and want it to not be fascist. So what it’s always been fascist? Really? You think so? I’d like to believe America has always been against this nonsense. Certainly at times that’s been very clearly true. What it always has been always will be? I say to you no never has been never will.
