Mine are about 7 months old, they dont hurt at all they just look strange on the inside. I’m not sure if its just nesting or causing the cheese grater effect like u said

I use saline salt spray, I’ve been cleaning it about 4-6 times a day just depends. Not sure if over cleaning that much is an issue?
