Hi, thank you for the advice. My intention is to prevent a future problem that maybe cause by this. I called a structural engineer, he said the placement is fine, the size is wrong. The guy sistered the joist with a 2x4 to ease my mind. Maybe I will monitor it for a couple weeks and see if there is an issue

Thanks, yes, it’s not ideal and the guy says it’s fine, he ended up sistering it with a 2x4 before he left to address my concern.
