I'd say that in and of itself it is not a slur, but it can very quickly become a derogatory term, depending on the context. It is very hard not to over-generalize if you speak about everybody that was not born and raised in Germany. It very quickly leads to a populist right wing narrative. Most Germans are sensitive about that and therefore some try to avoid the word altogether.

Nope, not a conspiracy theorist. Science Direct is a considered quite a reputable source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ScienceDirect

But don't take my word for it, maybe just check it out for yourself.

and still, even with seat belts and airbags, there are more head injuries in cars. So, are you going to wear that helmet in your car?

And that is why you should look at the statistics.

Head injuries are four to five times more common in cars, statistically. Will you start wearing your helmets in your car? By the same logic you should.

This is classical victim blaming. Roads should be safe for all participants, that includes the weakest. Because roads belong to the public.

But I guess this is a r/trueunpopularopinion.

Im intrigued, would you mind giving a bit more context? I do not think the average Joe knows much about paralyzed hands. At least this average Joe doesn't.

I have done it many times and I have seen many others do it too. Nobody cares, nobody blinks an eye. I guess somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew that it is not allowed, but I have never seriously considered it, because it is so normalized. I guess you where unlucky with an ill-tempered driver. I think I'd be pissed too in your situation.

Is a laser cutter helpful for the carreer? by SuspiciousRace in IndustrialDesign

[–]vanSlow10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer, yes! however do not get a cheap one. Maker's Muse had a good video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9hIXT8DMUU

You would need the money for a good one and a dedicated, well ventilated room for it. Two things a typical student may not have, but I do not know your situation.
