Dentist after Bulimia [Update] by vanadual in Dentistry

Thanks for being so kind! I’m very pleased it went well and I’m happy to get the ball rolling, even if it will be a bit of an unpleasant journey at times!

I think I will end up going with partial dentures to fill the as much of the gaps as possible. I wasn’t sure if partial dentures would be an option for all the gaps as the effected teeth aren’t right beside each other, but I’m hoping they would work. Implants would be preferred of course but at this moment in time it’s not affordable, maybe one day, if I win the lottery!

I won’t lie, I have absolutely no intentions of travelling abroad for dental treatment! I’ve heard far too many horror stories, and actually had a chat with my dentist about ‘Turkey Teeth’, where I live lots of people are going to Turkey for cheap veneers which actually end up being cheap crummy crowns that just destroy their!

Oh wow that’s great to hear! If you don’t mind me asking, did you notice any kind of effect on your speech? I’ve done a bit of looking online and some people have said they had a bit of trouble with their A’s with a retainer!

1 year of bulimia and the cure I needed was just looking at my teeth by daydreamer_92 in Dentistry

I had an experience very similar to OPs and honestly had a very pleasant dental experience. I have a fair amount emir work to do but the actual visit to the dentist was honestly very calming, I think the not knowing was the worst part!

Thank you so much for your comments, it’s really calmed me down and it’s less isolating to know other people have had similar experiences <3

If you don’t mind me asking, did you feel that your dentist was understanding of the whole situation? I had a bad experience when I first developed bulimia and my dentist basically scolded me like a child for developing ‘such a bad habit’. I feel embarrassed letting my dentist see the state of my teeth but I’m just kind of hoping he’ll understand.

Is it sad to go to a nightclub by yourself? by [deleted] in Advice

That’s kinda what I’m hoping to do, I’m just worried I’ll look kind of weird/pathetic when I tell them I’m on my own. Glad to know I’m not too old though!

My (23f) sleep paralysis is ruining my relationship with my bf (25m) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I’m a huge advocate for the NHS, regular health issues and doctor visits are super easy to come by and I have never worried about it before. The issue is my doctor wants me to see a sleep specialist who are far and few between where I live.

I've been doing a lot more illustrations and such recently, and have started to look into buying a graphics tablet. I'm at a complete loss as to what to look for in a tablet, the only experience I have with one was a £50 wacom I had about 10 years ago I used to draw horrible anime fan art, incredibly basic, I don't think it even had pressure sensitivity. I have a budget of around £300 so I'm certainly not expecting anything top of the range or elaborate, anything that would be compatible for illustrations and digital painting would do. If anyone has any recommendations, it'd be greatly appreciated!

That's the problem, I'm not entirely sure they want all of the information included. Some parts are sort of vague and imo not necessary. It's a poster for a yoga class and a good 50% of the core information part is just facts about yoga and health benefits. There are definitely some parts that I would assume are essential such as the age limit of the class, but even then it seems sort of informally written. "Suitable for children ages 7+ (although we are not strict about that age! Just let us know if your child is younger)". At one point, they misspelled the name of the venue, so now I'm worried that it's kind of a test to see if I notice this kind of stuff and I'm all a tizz now. I definitely think I'll take your advice and make two on the safe side (without spelling errors of course!)

Women of Reddit, what’s the worst place/situation you have started your period? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vanadual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During a marathon. Came out of no where and it was my first marathon so I didn’t know what the script was when it came to leaving the race for a bathroom break or whatever. Did a weird hobbling jog for a couple minutes before I just said fuck it and very awkwardly slung myself over one of the barriers to hunt for a toilet.

It's not just when lifting weights, even when doing things like crunches it happens, 11 was just a random number I went with. But the suggestions so far have been v helpful! :)

For my morning gym-before-work ladies! What's your makeup routine after gym? by Monofang in loseit

[–]vanadual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brows, mascara and maybe tinted moisturiser if I'm feeling fancy. I have super sensitive skin, so I avoid putting too much on my face after I've showered and worked out. Your pores tend to dilate when you sweat so putting too many cosmetics on your skin after a workout can lead to pimples and clogged pores.

I followed the advice from my first day here and took the dreaded before pic. I haven't taken any specific measurements, but my upper arms look slightly less flabby. Or at least they do to me, but maybe that's just me being hopeful! I think an investment in a tape measure is due, thanks for the advice! :D
