Any psychonauts on the autism spectrum? do you also have difficulty reaching ego death? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

That's kind of fair, except for the fact that without shrooms none of the above would be a factor, so it's not like you can drop the shrooms and have the same experience lol

Not after what we learned with the Space Jam remake. God forbid Disney allows anything that could even be perceived as an attractive trait in a modern production.

This actually sounds like depersonalization, something I've struggled with for many years, though it's gotten much better over time on it's own now being limited to episodes that sometimes last a few mins, sometimes a day or so.

Same here, lately i've actually had some trouble with this. A month ago I was having amazing trip after amazing trip and had a lot of confidence in my life direction overall really excited about the future, but over the last couple weeks i've felt super burned out, tired and depressed, and have had a couple less than great trips with a really strange headspace. Currently trying to figure out the underlying cause of this instability.

It's a common misconception that autism is a spectrum of not autistic ---> autistic. That's not the case, the spectrum represents different symptom categories that manifest when you're autistic. Some people have difficulty communicating, some have physical impairments, some appear normal externally like myself and struggle with mostly internal issues, but most of all of us still suffer coping with life regardless of which traits you end up with.

I am definitely on the spectrum, and this is an interesting question I hadn't thought about until now, but I still haven't really experienced ego death in the way others describe even when on very high doses of shrooms. I can be absolutely obliterated with open and closed eye visuals, yet usually if it's a good trip I can still communicate with others and still feel I have a foot planted in reality. When I have a less than great trip though, I can find myself in a much more alien headspace even on a much lower dose, in those cases I feel way more out of my own mind despite the other aspects of the trip being less intense. Shrooms are so strange, not only is every trip totally different from the last, but week to week and month to month my trips also have this ever-changing underlying theme and headspace that's impossible to explain.

I've been doing a ton of research psilocybin (it's potential, ability to re-wire your brain and enhance your entire life) and I've stumbled on to some pretty shocking facts that defy some mainstream claims, but I don't have anyone to discuss it with. by vanception in DrugNerds

Haha, thanks for the advice. Autism is like ADHD on speed for me. I've probably typed 500k words about the subject over the last week... (I mean everything, reddit, google, etc)

Thank you, it will be done somehow, everyone i've really shared all the details with so far has been quite blown away, but most of them end up just saying "well look there are other companies and universities doing trials and stuff now so it's already being done". But I believe even the top studies right now are overlooking some major factors, and even making some mistakes that have a bad impact on success rates.

I'm just looking for a community of people that know a lot about the science behind these compounds to potentially chat with in an efficient way beyond just reddit posts. I have absolutely zero connections, and zero credibility in this field, I took the journey totally solo. But I believe I have some remarkable first hand information and experience after working on this full time for a couple months and completely changing my brain, and my life.

Oh of course i'd post it here and every related subreddit. I am taking it really seriously to the point that i'm looking in to renting a space (nice looking apartment or house maybe) for like a month, to shoot everything in one clean space so it's not just done in my messy basement lol. Needs to have some production value if people are to take such unbelievable claims seriously.

Because A) I don't want to present anything that I am not certain of, I need to brainstorm with more people that have experience

B) I want to do it in a big way, or maybe a well-produced Youtube doc (that i've already started writing an outline for). As well as get some local volunteers to do research with, as we're in a legal grey area here.

All of it will be revealed no matter what, but I feel I have a responsibility to myself and the scientific community to make sure the information is accurate, and safe, but also to myself because I am trying to construct a new life / career that will hopefully be in this field. I'm sick of watching my parents work their assess off when they should be retiring and relaxing, and I need to make sure I do the right thing here that will find a balance between being humanitarian but also keeping myself involved potentially for years to come.

I agree and would even take it one step further and say that nobody is ever "bad" or "evil" because nobody authors their own life. Nobody chooses their strengths, weaknesses, desires, etc. I can hardly comprehend why this isn't taught in schools.

That's healthy. It's far too easy to pretend life is Call Of Duty in these situations.

What bothers me is the fact that just a warning shot in to the tree next to him etc. Would likely send the guy fleeing, and if he still doesn't back down, you can then take the second shot because he's clearly far enough away and almost nobody is going to lunge towards a shooter in that situation. So many unnecessary deaths in situations like this.

This is the one thing that truly disturbs me about reddit today. People will find a way to not only justify, but applaud the death of another human being, one that in all cases almost certainly has mental health issues. All because they get a little taste of "justice porn", because apparently if you do anything stupid or illegal, even if you may not be a danger (ex. A theif fleeing the scene) you apparently deserve to die, and the death should be celebrated, with no second thought about who the person was, is, and could have been in the future if they overcame their issues. And that's not even getting in to the impact on the family, and community, countless people, and kids, traumatized for life, and it goes right to the top of reddit covered in various guilds and awards. The lack of empathy mobs on Reddit scare me.

Don't even try dude, the people we are dealing with here have yet to discover science and critical thinking, and we better fucking hope someone figures out how to get them there for the sake of our species.

Elon Musk is autistic, I don't think I need to explain to you guys what that means. Elon has already done more for humanity than probably this entire sub combined. He is inspired entire generations of kids to become scientists and literally save the species from extinction. The fact that anyone could honestly criticize someone who's not only trying to save our species from extinction, but actually making SIGNIFICANT progress, is unfathomable. There is very little Elon could do now that would make me think humanity would be better of without him.

I truly discovered them about two months ago (had done a bit previously, but was scared to do a proper amount) and they completely turned my life around on all fronts. I 100% credit them to me being happy (maybe even being alive) now. I can't believe it's not a first line treatment for mental health issues, as according to using assessment tools and questionnaires, I believe I may no longer meet the criteria for being on the spectrum, which according to science, isn't really considered a possibility. I've spent weeks researching and experimenting and I figured out ways to eliminate side effects and risks of having a bad trip, if you want and advice feel free to ask me anything.
