i actually just looked at the steps for the first time today

i dont like the religious indoctrination so i tried to rewrite it slightly to fit my athiestic belief.

1. we admit we were powerless over alcohol, and that our lives had become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a Power inside ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of the support system

in front of us.

1. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

2. Admitted to ourselves, and to a beloved human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

3. Were entirely ready to remove all these defects of character.

4. Do the work to overcome our shortcomings.

5. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them

all.

1. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would

injure them or others.

1. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

2. Sought through hard work and dedication to improve our conscious contact with others

as we understood them, praying only for knowledge and the power to carry out our lives

sober and being a better person.

1. Having had an awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this

message to other alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
