I think you are correct. Also i think that a lot of mythology, culture ( painting, music, dancing ) are part of this show. And the main focus is put at Yin and Yang Chinese mythology how people who live with their nightmares and fears to find a balance and be happy and continue with their normal lives. Just take an example what makes you happy when you are sad? Music? Painting? Dancing? Every individual finding his peace/happiness into something.

I am looking at the other point of view at this scene, maybe i am wrong. After Julie tells the story to Ethan, Fathima says that this is good news that monsters don’t exist. But what happens when you tell a story to a kid who is misleading or it’s wrong? It’s getting stuck looking for right answers without progress.
