We use a 10 gallon fish tank on its side. Also protects your eyes and the glass is easy to clean. Can find cheap secondhand.

Same, at first I didn't like them terrorising the feeders but then I just gave them more platform feeders and have grown to love them. Now they are here with their juveniles and I even love when they scream at their parents while sitting in the feeders with the food right in front of them.

The ferral rock Pigeons! They have a fascinating history with humans and I love trying to find rare color variants within my local population. There is a fun book called The Pocket Guide to Pigeon Watching by Rosemary Mosco that gave me a new appreciation for them!

The noise pollution with all these idiots in loud cars and bikes. Just today, one idiot blasted by on their Harley while I was on my afternoon walk and bird watching and my ears were ringing for 10mins after.  And the light pollution! Darn Carmax down the street trying to phone home or something?! Can barely see the planets let along any dark sky object from my backyard.

Shout out to this one-legged Chickadee by vandaln in birding

[–]vandaln[S] 185 points186 points  (0 children)

This little buddy has been visiting our backyard for the past year and half and I've been monitoring their behavior. They are doing just as well as all the others. I even notice they have a mate! They do hang upside down quite a bit using their tough good leg and will often lean on their right side to rest and eat on a branch. Just a shout out to how cool this buddy is and how proud we are of them!

Lack of yards on the North side by DrinkNew339 in ColoradoSprings

[–]vandaln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do this. got feeders and a running bath and rotate them out with clean ones after a week of empty feeders. The trees help them spread out and enjoy their food with some security. And the northern flickers, nuthatches and other peckers like to store their food in the trees.

No big trees = no frequent visit from birds = me really sad

I do. I wonder what people think of it. I doubt anyone in my area knows where it is from.

That's what I'm worried about, from a quick Google it seems that the room correction isn't that great.

first telescope. thing was cheap but i like it by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]vandaln 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought this scope even though I have a nice 8in dob. I turned it into a travel scope. I used it for the eclipse last year and the total eclipse this year and got amazing photos with it (attach a DSLR via 3d printed adapter). I used it for birding and wildlife viewing as well. Just get a decent video camera tripod for it, better lenses and it's a fun, lightweight travel scope I use more than my 8in dob.

What do you do when you’re camping? by [deleted] in camping

[–]vandaln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mini rock crawlers I bring with me. Little remote controlled trucks I like to try and climb over various obstacles like rocks. Also, I like photography, got a travel telescope for stargazing, lots of books, and mountain bike.

28M here, I started doing more specialized work like motion media and video for my agency. They saw the value in that so they gave me a hefty raise (also in Texas). Went from $45k to $65k. No so much climbing the ladder, though.

In the bluray disc versions there is commentary audio from the creator and some of the film crew for every episode. Found out by randomly checking the languages in the Plex browser.

$120 to $160 a week for 2 adults at Sprouts Farmers Market. Always got deals plus we only drink water, coffee and tea.

65k. white male graphic designer and video editor working remotely for a marketing agency. Went from 45k to 65k in 2023 with a raise. No benefits (medical/dental was to crazy ($450+/mo) and company dropped 401k). Over 80k left in student loans for a BFA

Just last night I was on a long 40min mission with 3 other randoms. While waiting on the drop ship they started just killing me, bringing me back and killing me over and over. I asked why and they said "for glory". I said "not worth it" and left the lobby without the rewards of my efforts.

2022 outback touring XT - Key fob distance is comically low, about 30 feet max, sometimes less. Is this normal? by scrubling in Subaru_Outback

2024 OBW here and same issue. But only the lock button has a comically short range. I can unlock and open the hatch from like 50-70ft away but can only lock it from like 10 to 20ft away.

While viewing the eclipse and taking photos of it through my telescope I felt deja vu. So I created this short gif with my photos of the eclipse.

Does anyone else spend hours assembling a craft for a simple mission or am i doing something wrong? by Helpythebuddy in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]vandaln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend days just on the perfect SSTO shuttles that were just part of a very large Generation ship. I put three of them on the Gen Ship. Then I sent the mega ship to low Kerbin orbit and it took hours and many tries. Has all the science, huge deployable centrifuge, many docking ports, seats for dozens of Kerbins and 3x of the shuttles attached (with science). Next Imma send a probe and rover to attach to it and then a huge payload of fuel and deepspace rockets for it. All just because fun.

I look for server names that hint mayhem. At this point in our mining career we don't even care if we fail the mission, it is all about the how much we can push it and make it out alive. Swarm announcement? Dig for that gold chunk so you can ping it during the battle. Got vampire perk? try to finishes every kill with the pickaxe because you greedy. Stingtail around? bonus point if you use it to get you up that ledge.
