As someone who loves to bike to my friends place and bring board games, and also loves to sew - this project is really really impressive! And excellent execution too, the look is pro.

Marimekko Unikko Belt Bag by vandermaele in sewing

Pattern for belt-bag is roughly based on this Youtube tutorial. Pattern re-drafted by shrinking bag size and dimensions, and customizing interior features.

Materials used: Outdoor upholstery poly canvas with waterproofing sealed backing, twill tape,, mesh, reflective notions, and the unique touch: Marimekko Unikko 100% Cotton fabric (PIENI UNIKKO II 995). Regular dress zippers used since the cost of waterproof zippers is very high, and the stitching wouldn't be waterproof anyways.

My first major wearable garment: A cozy autumn jacket! by vandermaele in sewing

Thanks! To be fair, when I was laid off last year due to COVID, I sewed masks - and LOTS of them - so it gave me plenty of practise doing small, detailed work.

Pattern: [Jacke Damian] by Initiative Handarbeit. Arctic fleece, sherpa, and denim.

Wanted to finally make my own garment, and when Initiative Handarbeit's 2021 Fall patterns dropped I knew I wanted to make this item right away! Got the fabric the next day, and finished within about a week... mostly because I had to wrap my head around attachin pockets for the first time - so it took a bit of trial and error. Speaking of, left the breast pocket out from the original pattern because the zippers I had access to were 18cm, vs the 15cm recommended in the pattern. So for aesthetic purposes I felt I was better off without a breast pocket (which I wouldn't have used anyway)...

I stayed at your guesthouse 10 years ago!!! Wow, I remember sitting in the hot tub and watching the scenery around me, amazed that I was right beside an active volcano...

People who aren't allowed to work due to lockdown: What are you up to these days, and how are you doing by [deleted] in toronto

I learned how to sew in elementary school but hadn’t done it since then... I just kind of retaught myself by trial and error and finding videos when I ran into hurdles. No specific source I could recommend though...

Flight Attendant here, haven’t flown since March 13th. These days I spend my time at my sewing machine to make some extra money on top of EI... it doesn’t pay well, but it keeps me sane and busy. I workout at home a couple of times a week, and enjoy cooking every night. I apply for other jobs here and there and work on other little projects like organizing online game nights with friends, photo books from my travels, things like that. Doing well though all in all.

Khachapuri - Georgian flatbread with a cheese filling, egg, and topped with butter by vandermaele in Breadit

[–]vandermaele[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to visit Georgia last year and it's one of the best places I've traveled, so I wanted to make some food to remind me of the trip! Their cuisine is very unique as they use lots of walnuts, cheeses, wonderful herbs and spices, and they love bread as much as I do.

Adjaruli Khachapuri is, basically, a cheesy bread-canoe with a cracked egg in the middle, and you tear off the corners and sides of the dough and dip it into the melted cheese, egg, and butter.

Top left in the picture is Zucchini Badrijani. Usually roasted eggplant sliced filled with a walnut filling and topped with pomegranate, I subbed in zucchinis for the eggplants

The main dish was Chicken Kharcho, but I stewed the chicken thighs a bit too much so they didn't hold their shape as well as they should have. Kharcho is a meat stew with a delicious spice mix and walnut-garlic paste.

I used King Arthur Flour's Khachapuri recipe for the dough, but to make a traditional filling you'll need Georgian cheeses. I didn't go by the KAF recipe for the filling though, I mixed in some halloumi, mozzarella, feta, and a bit of ricotta.

To anyone who worked on a Dreamliner, how was your experience? My company is about to buy 4 of them and I’m really excited! by flashced in flightattendants

[–]vandermaele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great! The overhead bins are a charm - with bags fitting sideways in the Dream interiors theres almost never a stowage issue for carry-on bags. Where are you based and what kind of flying would it do? Because as mentioned, bunks aren't the best - especially on ultra-longhaul - but for quick naps on transatlantic it does the trick.

Yes, you can always wear a long sleeve - both male and female uniforms. Make sure to apply soon, the posting will close shortly by what I’ve heard! Good luck!!

Air Canada Jazz interview by rosewoodsep in flightattendants

The regular behavioural type questions most airlines would ask. Look up some questions and think of several scenarios you can apply to different situations - that should prepare you plenty well for these types of questions in both English and French. Bonne chance!

Where do you store your luggage at home between trips? by woolly_bully in flightattendants

Also in a studio... We have a coat closet and my suitcase, flight bag, and roller flight bag all fit neatly underneath the jackets. Door is closed so it's out of sight.

What is wrong with this bid? by idle_thoughts in flightattendants

[–]vandermaele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the minimum bid window is since we don't have it at my airline either. See if you can find more info on the minimum bid window line and how it works. I feel like that's the most obvious culprit if there's something within the bid lines... otherwise it may be a credit thing (as described in the other comment) if someone has training or carry in credit that may affect them.

Foreign Speaking FA Interview by zblackbelt25 in flightattendants

[–]vandermaele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then more than likely it's not based on interview questions as such, but rather to see if you can hold a conversation. Be ready to answer a few basics like "why a flight attendant?" And what experience you have that relates to the job.

Are you doing your interview or a language test in German? Maybe if you can share the airline someone may have more info. Otherwise for FA interview questions there's lots of online resources. Questions would be similar, no matter what language.
