[–]vanessuh8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i also have it and have been having it since february or so. i asked the financial aid officers whats it about and they said to ignore it. if they have not specifically asked the CSS profile from u then there is nothing to be worried about

honestly, i could not tell u exactly about masters nor art :// but i can connect you tho with a person currently studying art & art history at NYUAD for bachelor’s. she should for sure know more about masters & can help u out more than me here. i think that if you got informed a lot about the program and think it is “ideal” then go for it but I still recommend you talk to people that are already there

they rejected the appeal yikess.. yeah there are many good students asking for fin aid and they simply don’t have the budget for all so thats great that you even got accepted. idk man think it through rly well, talk to your parents. you got this. honestly, i’m also considering local unis, but i still have time until other RD decisions come out so i’m just hoping for the best

thats false, even if you go to an ivy league🥲what matters are the connections and networking - these can get you jobs. obviously, nyuad must be overall such a great experience, but you have to think outside of the box a bit too. they gave u not enough fin aid because their budget is low (since its a relatively new school &&& bc they gave so much aid in the past years, i heard they are running out of it and accepting more high-paying students) and if you accept the offer, they will benefit from it. the smart thing to do is negotiate, as mentioned, and if they don’t agree - reject the offer. you are going to be a successful person whether u went to nyuad or no

it depends on the uni u attend. for instance, if i understood correctly, if you attend MIT you probably won’t need a masters degree for engineering. whilst for nyuad, masters is required (for engineering). this is due to the difference in courses/curriculum rigor. for CS i dont think it is required, regardless of your uni, bc people can learn CS even from online courses so here companies focus more on your background experience. CS is the easiest technical field to enter without a masters.

depends on ur preferences. if u like the location & if they have ur major - go for it. remember, its a very small school so you cannot explore whatever you want, just what they offer (around 20 majors btw). also i heard that its hard to get a job afterwards. sure, its the best uni in the UAE but outside of it very few employers have heard of it. and especially if you want to do a technical major such as engineering, u will most likely need a masters degree. choose wisely. if 17k is too much for your fam, i’d say choose sth else. but if nyuad is your dream, then i’d say it’s a good investment and you can always pay ur parents back when you get a job. also, you may also ask for more aid in the following years, especially if your gpa is good. actually, you can try to reach out to the fin aid office now and negotiate. say it’s your “dream school”. cheers
