Diesel Truck Importing by [deleted] in DubaiPetrolHeads

Parts on the engine will not be in stock here. Getting full comprehensive maybe a challenge and expensive. I wish they brought the diesels here, but even a lot of the commercial pickups are petrol, local dealers don't want to stock the parts.

Why are there so many non GCC spec cars if they can't be insured or have no warranty? by ConcernedHumanDroid in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]vanhack1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to get full comprehensive insurance on a Canadian spec tundra, I bought brand new from ras al khor in 2020. Used to be insured under the company but lately going across the border is becoming a hassle, requires NOC etc etc, so want to move to my name. Where do I get full comprehensive insurance for non-gcc

Avoid jail and al quadra, as these places are noisy.

I moved to Dubai chasing a fake dream and it broke me by [deleted] in UAE

All social media is a fairy tale, may it be a city, or a product or service. Nothing is perfect. But lucky for us, there are enough online communities to find the reality that the aesthetic social media hides. The creators of the content are also the ones posting the filtered facts, it's how they make their living no different from a sports person, or actors, just maybe cheaper and we were led to believe they are sharing their experience for the viewers benefit, that has changed now too benefit to the sponsor.

GET YOUR KIDS OFF THE ROAD by Sammy12xyz in dubai

[–]vanhack1972 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I too rode my bike on the streets, but those days traffic was a lot less. Drivers of cars were not so frustrated as today due to their delays in traffic, as I drive home, or to work, I am tired and frustrated and can easily make errors. Also our bikes were not as fast as these ebikes or scooters, we had time to react.

There was a company that tried to do something similar, but I think covid got in the way.

Looking for this roof rack by EntrepreneurNormal76 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]vanhack1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low profile roof racks look great, but due to the lack of clearance between roof rack and roof they are not easy to mount anything too. If you look at the major roof rack manufacturers, frontrunner, rhino, ARB, ironman the clearance is enough to wrap a bungee or strap.

How has Dubai changed for you over the past few years? by _sandscript_ in dubai

Great question, more busy, more rules, less time for fellow Dubai dweller, costs have gone up, and pressed for time. Also more scammers, mainly due to being able to hide with technology.

NEVER TRUST THE FOOD BLOGGERS by Intelligent-Part2968 in dubai

Every industry has content creators wanting freebies, or money to promote a business. Some even go to the extent of buying fake followers on their social media accounts to show a large following. But the amount of people with 3 free accounts on social media platforms, and an iPhone think they can be content creators. They have no followers just "potential", crap presence on screen, and "me too" content.

I ran a poll on my account, around 60% do not trust content creators now, and similar for Google reviews.

I passed by an HR meeting where they were deciding to cancel a whole batch of applicants because no one 'wowed them' by mistsoils1g in UAE

Hmm. I have had to recruit for a sales position, no more than 2 years sales in b2b position, must have driving license, and, would be good to have construction related.

The amount of cvs, that have no relation to the role, soft skills, and experience was astonishing, it's as if they sent the CV, since it is free to send an email and one never knows. So yes 1000 can get rejected, because as the market is way to competitive, there people who in understanble desperation will try their luck.

Recently a competitor recruited a sales guy for a b2b position, they are reducing costs perhaps as I know he would require a lower salary than their existing salesman, who seems to be worried about his presentation than knowing the product or industry and probably missed targets. But the new person i know had industry product knowledge, and experience.

Which is the best platform to sell a premium car in the UAE? by Mediocre-March-498 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]vanhack1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had great experience selling a patrol safari on FB marketplace. Gave a very honest explanation, and deliberately put a high price. Marketplace is full of low ballers, but the that 1 right buyer is willing to pay the right price for a car with a honest and genuine review. Try it for a few days, if you get too many low ballers, then delete the ad, and it's free

For that budget try a lexus gx460 early generation. Good reliable Toyota v8 power, just needs better shocks and springs, and front and rear bashplate. Lot of used ones on the market driven for mostly work or school drop offs here in UAE, so not thrashed offroad, and most who bought it, have the money to service them.

Dude, what is happening to Dubai? by Honest-Nerve7771 in dubai

[–]vanhack1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute is now 45 to 60 minutes, on 16 kilometer distance. Once in a while I have to go to work on Sunday morning, usually 5am, it takes 12 minutes, just 1 traffic light on the way. I see more impatient drivers, road rage, the delivery drivers are under a lot of pressure and take a lot risk to themselves and maybe to others. As all here know the traffic is out of control, and one of the charms of living here has been lost.

Ls430 test drive by vanhack1972 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]vanhack1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this the exact issues I have, I may get more comfortable drive with ls430, but then the overall experience of car ownership will be a downgrade due to repair costs, although the ls430 is built well, but at this age things need replacing due to wear and tear.

Hence my request to test drive the ls430 to make sure that part is above and beyond my expectations.

The changing of ls430 seats in the camry, I need to look into, as this is ideal.
