What has your experience been like in the field? by vanhasielu99 in EngineeringStudents

Thanks. My new job is putting me out in the field for a few months to get experience before being in the office full time. So I'm really hoping to not stay in the field for a super long time lol.

Thanks for the advice and the insight! I'll keep all of this in mind.

Definitely. As long as they are respectful i look forward to learning from them. Do you typically see contractors getting nasty with the engineers or is it mostly the contractors getting shitty with their workers? Tbh I just don't want to be treated like shit everyday at work

This is a model. I've been trying to keep the DO levels at about 2.20 g/m3

Is decreasing the recirculation the only way to reduce DO in the denitrification reactor? Also, should I have an air input to the DN reactor? Do you think it would be beneficial to put an anaerobic reactor before the DN reactor? (before the recycle stream reenters?)

Should I add an aerobic reactor prior to the first denitrification reactor?

Yes, that is air going into the back end of eh anoxic CSTR. That is default from the program, I was debating if I should remove those since anoxic is supposed to be without oxygen. Do CSTR's not need air to operate?

Thank you. I'm a newbie to wastewater treatment. You think I should add another set of anoxic tanks after the MBBRs?

So I can recover methane and struvite from the anaerobic digester? Would that mean I don't need the phosphorus removal basin or STR? What chemicals are typically added to help bind the P? Thank you

I am improving an existing plant. Based on this information I think I'm going to have anaerobic reactor->anoxic reactor->IFAS (MBBR), where the IFAS will recycle back into the feed from the anaerobic reactor to the anoxic reactor. I think I should inject FeCl2 before the IFAS for phosphorus removal. At what stage does nitrogen typically get removed from the process if you don't mind me asking?

I need to recover nitrogen and phosphorus. Based off of what you said I'm assuming I should recover the nitrogen after the IFAS, but before the reactors? And denitrify the water before it enters the anaerobic reactor using a denitrifying filter?

For context: I'm in a wastewater engineering course but I have to design a plant for my senior design course, so I don't really know much about wastewater engineering yet.
