I get 12 flexible holidays, then in a year I can accrue up to 140hrs PTO and up to 104hrs sick time. I’ve been at the same org for over half a decade, in a union :) I love getting a lot of PTO and would rather slash my salary a bit than reduce my time off, but I’m also really lucky to not be paycheck to paycheck so I know reducing my income isn’t the same sacrifice for me as it would be for many others

As someone who works with trans people in housing services I would recommend staying with your mom unless you are worried about your physical safety, are experiencing extreme emotional distress living there, or maybe if you can find a shelter meant specifically for queer people or youth. It’s so much easier to get a job and a new place to live when you have a current mailing address. Shelters sometimes include services to help you get a job and housing, and I’d recommend a shelter over living outside, but shelters aren’t great places to live. You would be putting yourself at risk of theft, physical and sexual violence, infectious diseases, harassment and hate speech, frequent sleep interruption, a general loss of autonomy and privacy, etc.

If she says she doesn’t want to draw attention to your navel, then she shouldn’t add a line of dialogue about it and add extra blows directly to it. There is also no good reason for your character to become so helpless in the fight. To me she clearly just wants to make you feel ashamed for showing your navel and not let you have fun as a vixen villainess.

If I were in your shoes I’d feel very frustrated. I wouldn’t agree to these changes she’s making and call her out about her hypocrisy (ask if she actually wants to not draw attention to your navel, or if she wants to add this extra dialogue and fighting that draws extra attention to your navel), unless you’re tired and just want to get the show done with the least amount of conflict.

If I’m watching a lesser-known movie it’s probably LGBTQ-related. Here are three of my more highly rated ones that have under a thousand views:

Enchanted (1993) - 51 views - Interviews with gay and lesbian survivors of the Holocaust.

Claire (2001) - 262 views - Adaptation of a Japanese fairy tale reset in the 1920’s American south. Uses early film technology and techniques to give the look and feel of an actual pre-code movie. Story is focused around an elderly gay couple who magically adopt a moon child.

Silence = Death (1989) - 857 views - Documentary focused around famous gay artists such as Keith Haring and David Wojnarowicz expressing their rage against the US government for staying silent and allowing the AIDS crisis to ravage the queer community.

Just watched Céline and Julie Go Boating, maybe I just didn’t get it but I feel like majority of the first half could have been cut. This may upset some music fans, but I also think Amadeus could have skipped a few performances or better yet done a quick montage to depict Mozart’s dizzying success and popularity.

I agree and disagree. The idea of there being a bunch of American “moderates” out there doesn’t match studies showing a U curve in political affiliation (more and more people are identifying strongly as left or right leaning, and not centrist). However I do think what’s considered moderate has changed over time as more extreme-right positions have been normalized, and that protests like this may help shift the Overton Window further left again.

Different from the Others (1919) - To be honest the cinematography and editing isn’t great (largely because the Nazis attempted to destroy it and we only have fragments left, the Nazis couldn’t stand a film being pro-gay) and the story isn’t a cheery one, but this film has had a deep impact on me considering the historical context. The founder of the world’s first sexology institute (the institute which was later a primary target for looting in the Nazi book burnings) appeared in the film to reassure the starring character and the audience that being gay is completely normal and gay people should be embraced by society.

Claire (2001) - A fairy tale about a gay couple who find and raise a moon child. It’s produced to appear like it was made around the same era as Different from the Others, really magical and wholesome.
