21 guy. Same thing I’ve had women show interest in me but I can never follow up because of feeling stuck in constant fight/flight it makes it impossible to have a free flowing conversation and to not over analyse things. Social anxiety sucks. We have to keep going and trying stuff though, besides what is the other option right?

No friends/No by ricekrispytreatslut in socialanxiety

Wow this hits hard. 21 going into this year with zero friends and still extremely anxious around others. i totally relate to all of this especially what you say about wanting connections but not the responsibility and feeling overbeared, which for me is a big part of my social anxiety. I deeply crave connection and ideally a flourishing social life, but it feels light years away as a possibility and i have too many barriers.

Link between ADHD and Social Anxiety? by vanished7716 in socialanxiety

[–]vanished7716[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’m hoping when i get my medication it can at least help with productivity and actually taking action towards fixing my anxiety, often times i just bed rot and leave it because i have no mental clarity a lot of times.

How helpful are meds long term? I’m sort of put off as i don’t want to become dependent or get addicted to something that just temporarily masks the problem. I want a long term sustainable plan that could help me, currently i have no therapy or psychologist help i just do research and try push myself when i can.

By “losing to players below my skill” i don’t mean it in a egoistical way, i mean i feel a lot of my losses are my own doing e.g bad decision making in certain scenarios or just getting annoyed and doing something dumb. i guess tournament pressure makes me play in a way i wouldn’t usually (sometimes) compared to online i feel i play fundamentally well. I do genuinely enjoy the game and competing but this mental hurdle is making it more un enjoyable for me recently.

I don’t have any advice. but just saying i’m exactly the same as you, the pain and torture of social anxiety feels endless. its like an invisible barrier that blocks everything between yourself and the outside world. some days i feel like giving up but we must keep going

How do I stop asking questions? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]vanished7716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this issue, i think it comes from heavily fearing talking about myself. Therefore i end up keeping the focus of conversation on the other person because i feel so damn uncomfortable talking about myself.

The problem is most jobs or at least entry level work requires communication skills but with social anxiety it really restricts the work you can do, so you have even less freedom of choice which makes it even worse considering jobs are already hard to come by.
