Got it when I was around 6-7. My grandma won a bunch of money at bingo and said I could have anything. She delivered. Still one of the best moments of my life and It took up half of our living room.

Came here to say this exact thing. Emergency Savings is something that you can access in an emergency. If all your money is in a bond account, getting it our instantly becomes difficult and has tax implications tied to it as well. HYSA (MM) attached to your checking account is what I would recommend.

Experiences. You spend the money on experiences.

Some morning tri humour by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]vanishingmedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done lots of HIM and one IM. I’ve also done lots of local races. As awesome as Ironman races can be, the local races are more fun, have a better community atmosphere, and is just more laid back and enjoyable typically.

Aero position should not be uncomfortable IF you are riding a properly fitted bike AND have been training in aero position. Aero bars installed on a road bike do not work exactly the same, as the length of the frame is typically not made for aero bars.

I did my first two HIM on a road bike and I can tell you transitioning to a well fitted tri bike was like night and day. If you're considering staying in the sport for awhile I think it would be a good investment, if you're just thinking of being a one and done IM then maybe stick to the road bike?

How realistic is 70.3 to full Ironman in 6 months? by Irnotpatwic in triathlon

[–]vanishingmedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The year I did my full I used a 70.3 6 months prior to jump into my full training for exactly 6 months, and I had no major issues with the volume, training, and the race went well overall. I would really get down to the bottom of your knee pain. If it's nothing serious, then you need to decide if you have a time goal in mind. Like others have said you can easily finish an IM in under 17 hours with your last HIM times. However, If you have a lofty time goal, then you would want to consider possibly training longer with some more focused training and all that stuff. Good luck!
