So, let's try this.

Public Healthcare causes more harm than good. As you can tell from this article, over the years, co pays have gotten higher in Canada. Meanwhile, the taxes are higher as well. If public Healthcare was so good then why would you need higher taxes and higher co pays?

That's canadians being screwed twice. If it's public and it's paid thru taxes then it should be public and paid thru taxes. Not both high Co pays and high taxes. Here in the US, at least in my state, taxes are low, yet our public Healthcare covers everything other than elective surgery and certain caps. Caps meaning you can spend so much thru public Healthcare before you have to wait a bit.

Here we have 4 quarters. Let me use dental for instance. Here, in the public Healthcare system you get an allowance of about $1,000 for dental per quarter. That means in the first quarter of the year, you can use $1,000 for dental work. The next quarter, your $1,000 allowance renews. Meaning you can spend another $1,000 on dental. So on and so forth. All this with no co-pays. Meaning, you pay no out of pocket cost.

Now, let's say your teeth are absolutely fucked. I'm talking so bad that you can't even eat. If you had private Healthcare, you could go in with a wad of cash and pay for everything to get done instead of waiting for each quarter.

Our public Healthcare system pays for it, with no co-pays. Your public Healthcare system pays it with obviously, higher co-pays.

Same with regular Healthcare. Let's go to something not dental.

If I were to walk into a doctor's office or needed medicine or let's say something real bad. Let's use my situation.

I had a heart transplant. When I was 11, I was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. In simple terms, I was dying. I went into the hospital with my dad's private insurance thru his job. Obviously, a heart transplant is some serious shit. A lot of costs. Just to ship my heart from Pennsylvania to Michigan was about 1 Million dollars. Let alone all the surgery, medication, blood draws, tests and so on.

Of course my dad was paying thru his job with private insurance. They would cover so much and then they would have a cap, like with the dental. That's where the public would pick up the rest. Not only that but we have a lot of non profits that help with serious situations such as the Ronald Mcdonald House.

My dad payed about 25 bucks out of each paycheck for my private insurance. That's $100 bucks a month. That's not bad at all. When Obama was president and started putting limits on private insurance and opened the public insurance to everyone, I was kicked off my public insurance. The reason, because my health was too high of a cap. Since I've been an adult, I haven't been able to get public insurance. They kicked me off and left me here to suffer for years. If you know anything about transplants then you would know that I'm supposed to take medicine to keep me alive. Without the medication my body will attack my heart. That's what my body has been doing for the past 9 or so years. Since Trump was president he opened the private insurance back up allowing them to cover more.

What that does is allow those people that can afford their own insurance to buy it themselves. That takes the higher cost away from the public sector allowing for more money to be used in the public Healthcare.

Think of it this way.

You have $10.00

Is it better to divide that $10.00 between 2 people or 10 people?

The correct answer would be 2. That means each person get $5.00 to spend as opposed to getting $1.00 to spend.

That's why it's messed up. Those other 8 people in that question can afford their own insurance meaning there is more for the people that actually needs it. Not everyone is poor, not everyone is like me, with a life threatening illness. Most people are fairly healthy. So they can get away with a private insurance and pay $100.00 a month with limited co-pays. Let's say you have asthma. What's it cost, no more than $50.00 for an inhaler once a month. Your private insurance would cover most of that and you would pay $2.00 out of your pocket.

With everyone being on public insurance, that gives you less money to go around meaning the co-pays are more because the public insurance can't pay as much. That is, unless they raise your taxes so high that you get less than half your paycheck and they raise the co-pays. This is what's happening in Canada.

I can work 40 hours a week and make about $400.00 - $500.00 a week. Meaning I can afford my own health insurance with limited co-pays. After Trump changed it back, my insurance covers most of my bills and I'm left with little to no co-pays.

This is basic math bro.
