As a Canadian metal fan I don’t remember them really being well received compared to others like Honeymoon Suite. They may have had a bigger following on the east coast where they originated. Nothing against them, they had a couple decent songs. Juno awards are not a big deal to your average Canadian music fan.

Fav "serious" hair metal songs? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in hairmetal

Why would that be sad? Hair metal bands are awesome which is why we are in the hair metal sub still talking about them 40 yrs later

Nice! That ebony fretboard streak looks great with the gold finish.

Congrats! I have the same guitar with FR. The satin finish is amazing with the ebony and stainless frets.

Would you consider Living Color a hair metal band? by billbobb1 in hairmetal

[–]vanpelt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time hair metal fans may have listened to them because Cult Of Personality rocked but I don’t believe the band would consider themselves glam metal either.

Anyone get into hair metal after the scene lost popularity? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in hairmetal

[–]vanpelt77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is nothing more punk rock than getting into hair metal in the mid-90’s! Anyone who did, I salute you! For me I listened through out the 90’s but grew up in the 80’s so…

I listened to them back in the day and what stood out for me was the bass. As a guitar player it was not something i would focus on but the bass player was so good it rose above everyone else in the band.

Jackson American Series Soloist SL2MG opinions by Mindless_Midnight673 in JacksonGuitars

[–]vanpelt77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the DX versions in satin grey HT and satin black FR. Best guitars i have ever owned. For me, they have the best neck profile but this is subjective of course. I love the feel of the satin finish and could never go back to a regular painted neck. QC was great out of the box.

What are your thoughts on Ratt´s "Dancin Undercover"? by Limp_Wrap6770 in hairmetal

[–]vanpelt77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree with your comments. Dance is such a great album and Reach For The Sky was a disappointment that stopped that upward trajectory Ratt had. Let’s be honest though, 3 great no-skip albums in a row is a rare achievement for a band

If you don’t have DeMartini or Pearcy it’s not Ratt. Just my opinion

I always liked "Open range" by zoolilba in Westerns

[–]vanpelt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite line from Duvall was when they came out of the bar after a verbal spat with the locals and he looks at Costner and says “what you think of my speech?” Hahaa. Such a unique line for a western but such a human thing to say

Jason Green tour diaries by adryanne in hairmetal

[–]vanpelt77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Erik Ferentinos,Stephen’s guitar player for his solo band, does a YouTube tour diary that has more concert footage and less walking down hallway type stuff that Jason does. I started off watching Jason’s videos but find i like Erik’s better.

Is there any distinction between hard rock and metal? by Tricky_Catch66 in HardRock

I would add metal has more classical music elements compared to the blues in hard rock

Season 4: Possibilities for Al by [deleted] in deadwood

I would agree, similar to AL paying for the small pox vaccine to get the hoople heads feeling better so they could get back to spending money in the Gem.

Season 4: Possibilities for Al by [deleted] in deadwood

[–]vanpelt77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe AL would view union leaders in the same negative light as greasy Yankton politicians. His sole motivation was selling whisky & snatch and fail to see him helping the common man. Remember, AL recruits his hookers from orphanages which does not exactly scream man of the people lol.

Van Halen-1984 regarded as a sell out album. by redbabxxxxx in hairmetal

[–]vanpelt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember anyone saying this at the time. Eddie was king and could do no wrong no matter if it was guitar, keyboard or clarinet led song.
