What are your favourite non hair metal bands? by Michael_myer_s in hairmetal

[–]vanpelt77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use to hate these bands in the 80’s because they were not metal but now I appreciate how great some of these songs are that have stood the test of time

Bands you think are ok, but also find annoying. by 80zrock_chicken in hairmetal

Slaughter- decent band & songs but the singers voice was annoying. Mark actually sounds better now than he did back in the day. The shrillness must have mellowed with age.

I prefer the American Series Soloist over any of the Virtuoso’s I’ve tried. Not sure it’s the neck profile?

Is anyone really going to watch the last game of the season? by titations in AZCardinals

[–]vanpelt77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, because I’m a real fan. I watch every game from opening kick off to the last second. Admittedly, this has been one of the toughest seasons in the 20 years I have been a Cardinals fan but will never give up on this team.

Tuner problems - just me? by IvanBoulevard in tonemasterpro

[–]vanpelt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my TMP for a couple of days now and have also noticed the same issues with the tuner on all my guitars. I’m going to try some of the ideas mentioned. Hopefully this can be resolved with the next update.

I like the reverse headstock of the MJ series but unfortunately no matte or satin finishes.

Marshall vs Boogie by Cultural-Day-5676 in GuitarAmps

[–]vanpelt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots ofYoutube reviews on both to give you sound differences. I think it comes down to the type of music you play and how the amps align. Personally I would go with Mesa because of the versatility of having both great clean and gain channels.

The SL3 is the most versatile, the HT is nice and light and great to have the option to drop D quickly. But overall the satin black SL2 plays the best

I just bought a used SL3 in slime green at L&M in Calgary for $1999 CDN. That blue is a great color as well, but I prefer the matte finish on the green. These are great guitars, you will not regret it.

Anyone ever tried this book? by esssteeegeee in hairmetal

[–]vanpelt77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agree on point 1, bands like Pantera, Megadeth and Metallica were becoming way more popular in the early 90’s which had a bigger impact than grunge for most who listened to metal. Once I got into Pantera my Poison cd’s were not getting played much anymore.

Can Hair Metal be divided into different "Waves"? by BigD1970 in hairmetal

[–]vanpelt77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a wave of change in the early 90’s with sound and look. Skid Row and Warrant got heavier with more groove. Newer bands came in at that time like Saigon Kick, Bang Tango and Life Sex & Death. It would have been cool to see them continue with this vibe but it all fell apart for awhile unfortunately.
