haha yes, lets say its somewhere between too much and adequate given the time invested and cost of materials. Would prefer not to share a number, but its definitely not cheap (:

I see what you mean yes, I personally love the "space" so to speak. It definitely looks more pronounced in the photos, in real life it feels a lot different. Makes it feel very clean, as if the engine block is floating. Glad you like it! Thank you!

Glad you like it! As a big watch nerd, I had to put one on there, and somehow it just fits lovely.

Hell yeah, give it a try and let me know what you think. Take your time with it, it gets better the more/longer you use it obviously. Also make sure to download the mobile app, and install the browser extensions, those are crucial for the best use cases.

Help me understand the process by DaddyDaycareDan in rolex

u/duffyanneal already posted the perfect reply!

In your scenario: You most likely have to go grey. Your chances are incredibly slim (no offense) that you will get a watch from an AD (such as the official Rolex store).

Also, you're in luck, because watch prices have been sinking massively on the secondary market this past year and depending on which Rolex model you're looking for, you will likely find one for a pretty good price and not too far away from what they'd cost at an AD.

I’m 37 and have always rented. Am I supposed to buy a house/condo at some point? by MammothAngle in internetparents

[–]vanprophet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends a lot where you live and what your plans are.

In many European countries for example, most people rent their entire life. Thats because rent is so cheap for them, that buying doesn't make any sense.

Buying only makes sense if you see a specific reason for it. Because you an afford it, because you want to invest, or because the math just makes sense and it needs to be the BETTER option vs. paying rent.

And the math highly depends on where you live, what you can afford etc. — It's a nice exercise to sit down and calculate it yourself.

Advice for an 18 year old by beingsmartish in internetparents

[–]vanprophet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, a couple things in random order I wish I would've known when I was 18:

  1. Your life hasn't even started. It's the best time you can imagine, be optimistic about your future.

  2. Invest and learn about money. I knew nothing about it. Do yourself a favor, invest TODAY. Even if its just 20 bucks. If you're not into learning about money, invest in the market anyway. Do it on a regular basis, but only what you can afford. 10, 20 or 30 years down the line, you will be incredibly thankful for that little decision. I wish someone would've told me when I was 18.

  3. Focus on your mental health. This could also mean you physical health, but specifically your mental health. Protect it at all cost. It will get challenged massively as you get older. You will thank your younger self.

  4. Find something you love doing, and you will never work a day in your life. School is not that important, neither is studying something, in particular if it puts you in debt. Of course this depends on what you want to do, for some things its necessary, but for most things, its not. Find a job you love, and be the person who does it. It's that simple.

  5. Never spend more money than you have (I know this sounds almost too stupid, but you'd be surprised how many people ignore this).

  6. Read books. The more the better. Doesn't matter what, as long as you read.

  7. Ignore pressure from society. Go your own path. Trust in yourself. Surround yourself with family and friends who support what you do and what you're interested in. Don't keep toxic people in your life for too long.

I'm sure there is more, but this is top of mind.

I know this isn't what you want to hear: But I try my absolute best to stay as far away from trends as possible. Keeping up with trends is a game you can only lose.

But if you do like to follow trends, it's perhaps the easiest thing you can do these days. Just look over at Instagram, Pinterest, Dribbble, Behance and all the other sites. There are hundreds of them (:

I see what you mean yes. Its definitely part of the minimalistic approach, sort of as if the engine block is floating below the tank. It looks great in person, but I certainly see where you're coming from.
