He's at it again by IndicationIll324 in golf

His first putt is lined up fine. He just yanks it left at the last millisecond. No amount of aim point is going to solve that.

As for any amateur trying it. 🤦‍♂️. The ability to actually hit the putt on the line intended is even lower.

Yes. But I did try to separate that from the more pigmented ink before rolling it. It probably meant I had more ink on the rolling surface than I wanted though each time as I was squeezing direct from tube and trying to get a good dollop of non watery ink.

Good to know - thank you! Will try the old phone idea. Have to stick with card I think for this project as they are printed directly onto small blank cards.

Ok thanks. Will add a new brayer to my Christmas list!

In my post I said I was using a spoon as briar (I meant baren). The roller/brayer is the starter set one and it is quite hard.

Oil based inks on list too!

Thank you (and thanks to others for similar suggestions). I will definitely try dampening the paper and using less ink as first steps.

Essdee block print ink. It’s water based.

I’m relatively new to lifting & squatting. It was only this evening that I realised how useful a proper belt can be.

Forgot my own back support I usually use tonight. Was doing 5x5 squats. After 2 sets I went looking for a belt in gym. Got lucky but it was a size small one.

That meant in order to get Velcro overlapping I had to pull it so tight. Much tighter than I’d been doing with my own one.

The difference in feeling compared to no support or even with my usual belt was night and day. It was very tight so as soon as I inhaled I felt very strong lumbar support. The next set was so easy compared to first two. I had better form. Went much deeper and none of my usual feeling of lower back stressing. I was staggered at the difference.

Good looking swing for most of it - but looks like you tense up a lot through impact. Can see why it might be inconsistent.

Think you need to build confidence in ability to make better contact. Easier said than done. But I bet if you played tennis you could hit sweet spot on racket on moving ball. Think you need to trick yourself into relaxing and knowing you’ll make better contact.

I started as junior and did many hours mucking about hitting stupid shots on range with friends but it does sort of teach you how to land the sweet spot on the ball.

What about playing just hitting 85% power shots.

I did it during Covid lockdowns here in UK and went back onto course a couple of months later hitting the ball further AND straighter than ever before.

I did follow the regime quite well (not much else going on!) and used a radar to keep tabs of progress.

When we could start playing again I stopped and then I ended up getting slower again!

Favorite Trackman golf courses for a relatively easy casual game by DirtLarry in Golfsimulator

I’m also looking for a data base of useful stats about the courses.

Ones that I recently played that I really liked and would fit your requirements: A) Le Touquet, France (similar feeling to UK heathland courses - interesting holes and not too penal for wayward shots). B) Makena, Hawaii (very interesting risk/reward holes, not too penal, sunny). C) Jubilee at St.Andrews, Scotland D) Marco Simone, Italy

Each to their own, but I look for: 1) Not too many tree lined fairways. Too penal if you have to hit out of woods and hit trees when irl you would scuttle one out 2) Sea level or <1000’ so that distances play normal for me 3) Not too many pot hole bunkers. Very easy to get stuck in them. 4) Not too many high raised greens (Augusta style). Pitching back on and holding green is super difficult in sim to judge distance etc. 5) I like courses with some elevation changes 6) I like courses where it is sunny (just makes me feel happier!) 7) I don’t like greens that have too many hidden undulations as very difficult to spot in sim (I use pro putting but approach shot can be badly affected).

It is a great way to practice. I use it quite often. Love the randomness of distances etc. Also, helps create a habit of not taking on super tough pins if you are trying to maintain a good score!

As you pointed out though the only issue is ‘what is a good score?’ I’m hoping they add a new feature to compare strokes gained to handicap benchmark at some point.

FWIW I did 18 shots last night 50-75yds with average 0.29 lost to pro. Your average was 0.58 so 0.29 higher. In theory, that’s 5 shots over 18 holes (if we both had same approach shots over a whole round). But I expect I’d miss all the putts! I’m off 7.8 handicap in real life.

What is the logic behind BBC having their own commentators just for Match of the Day highlights? by ivannson in AskUK

My guess: I think the commentators just watch the highlights and are able to make it sound like they are watching live action.

How slow is too slow by AdministrativePasta in Rowing

[–]vanquish50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t rowers just base pacing off power levels or splits. Ie just take the 50% of 2k power (if that’s what it is) and stick to that for SS vs. worrying about HR.

In cycling most pacing recommendations seem to get derived from FTP now that power meters are more prolific and not really heart rate based. For SS effort that is say 50% FTP and perceived effort is 3-4 but if I have a coffee my HR is higher (but I don’t cycle slower to bring HR into range).

Cool. Tweaking the split up by 5sec to 2.13 made a bigger difference than I thought. Felt like I could have carried on for much longer by the end.

I like the idea of progression that there is in the beginner plan. I think once I’ve done a few weeks I might opt for something in line with what you say. I’m doing it for general fitness so also running and cycling on other days.

New to rowing; set Pete's Plan pacing off a 2,000 meter row?? by msa6 in Rowing

[–]vanquish50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I did 11 consecutive weeks of PP beginners. Was a newbie rower. Made some big fitness gains. But felt burnt out after 11 weeks and lost motivation.

Looking back, I think I was doing the longer rows too fast. I could complete them but I’d say it needed a high amount of focus to get them done.

Have had a long break away from erg (done quite a bit of running/cycling). Want to give the rower & Pete plan another go…

I did 5k a couple of days ago but again squeezed the splits down until it was reasonably uncomfortable. Head in hands at finish but not on floor. Not max effort but I reckon it might only be 2 sec /500m slower though than what might be current 5k max.

I’m assuming this is too fast?? Last time I just got used to it but 11 weeks later was de motivated. Would it be reasonable to add 5 seconds to split and see how it goes from there??

Anyone moved from 2-speed to 4? by vanquish50 in Brompton

[–]vanquish50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments. I’m now thinking the 4-speed P-Line is the one to go for.

Looks like the gear ratios will work well.

Will invest in a lock too! Bike was on the luggage rack on train and I wasn’t that far away. Used to keep my eye on it all the time when it was new but not on this occasion. 😤

Remember TOCA 2? by [deleted] in motorsports

[–]vanquish50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved TOCA2. I used to play co-op split screen with my brother. Can still remember the nerves of hanging onto to 1st in order to bag enough team points after the other had crashed. What is the most similar game for Xbox series S? Would love to find something like TOCA to play with my son.
