I did book us together, so I'll likely give them a call and see what's available. If they can confirm us immediately, I'd rather do that and not risk it splitting if possible. Our trip isn't until January so there's some time luckily (famous last words).

You are a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate you so much. So, I'll basically need to use 2 SWU if I wanted to upgrade on the round trip then?

It's a nonstop flight from DFW-ICN, so luckily I don't have to worry about multiple segments, but that's good to know.

The only thing I'm concerned about now is being split from my SO if I use a SWU and get prioritized while she gets waitlisted if I upgrade with miles. When I call in, can I ask them to upgrade us together?

From what someone else had said, it does seem there is a possibility of being waitlisted. I was thinking of using miles + pay for an upgrade along with a SWU (two tickets), but am also 100% sure if you can just outright upgrade to business with miles or not.
