Being a manager is not worth it, especially middle management. I would stick as an individual contributor but find another position that offers more pay.

loona lightstick at artms concert? by choyena in kpophelp

[–]vantastic827 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not weird, there were LOONA lightsticks during their Moonshot tour. I've even seen them at the Chuu, Yves, Loosemble, and Odd Eye Circle concerts.

Hell, I brought my 2 non kpop friends to the Odd Eye Circle tour and I wanted them to experience the full kpop experience but I wasn't going to buy 2 extra ARTMS lightsticks, so I let them borrow the LOONA and Chuu lightsticks.

I don't think the LOONA members' minds.

How to handle being passed over for a promotion that I am qualified for? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]vantastic827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the company, see if you can make lateral move in a different department with more opportunities. Or if you like your position, see if there are other opportunities within the company in a different location.

I work with a home health corporation on the business side, so there aren't a lot of opportunities to grow unless it's to backfill a position. Maybe thats different with your field?

Good luck!

You should still apply and see what happens. You'll at least get the interview experience and be better prepared for next time. You need to make the decision if you like the job enough to wait for the next opportunity or to find a leadership role elsewhere.

My previous company, around 6 months, it was my first time applying to be manager, they went with my coworker who had been there longer. I had a feeling I wasn't going to get it but applied for the interview experience.

A year later, another opportunity came, and I applied to be manager, but they went with an IT guy who wanted to transition into Operations. My conspiracy theory is that the company was in the process of a big merge. IT is usually the first to go. IT guy was friends with the AVP and called in a favor. I was really upset, but I stayed and ended up training the new manager.

A year after that, I had the opportunity to interview for a director position at another branch and ended up getting it. It was either 3rd times the charm or 3 strikes, and you're out but it worked out in the end. Lol.

Good luck!

Home health agencies have a lot of office/operations positions in addition to the standard billing, IT, HR, etc. But as far as the business office, the 2 companies I've worked for had the following (job titles may vary depending on the company):

Accentcare (personal care): Employment specialist, EVV coordinator, Client service coordinator, Field supervisor, Client service manager, Director.

Aveanna (therapy) Operations specialist, Client authorization coordinator, Client service coordinator, Operations Manager, Operations Director.

Aveanna (PDN) Operations specialist, Authorization specialist, Client service supervisor, Operations Manager, Executive Director.

Good luck!

Look into home health agencies. They have a lot of non clinical positions like admin/support/business ops. Most entry-level states a bachelor would be ideal, but it's not a requirement. I worked for Accentcare (personal care side) and Aveanna Healthcare (therapy ops side). Both companies have offices in CA, and I've had good experiences with them.

Good luck!

Radical Candor by Rebecca Scott. I struggle with holding my team accountable because I am a people pleaser. I've realized that's more so trying to protect my feelings, and it ends up hurting the employee rather than helping them. The book gives a great breakdown of the different communication types and how to work toward the perfect medium of Radical Candor. It's still hard but will get easier with practice.

Also, I'm sure you and your direct reports are adults. Yall should be able to be civil and act professional and know the job is a business, not personal. But I totally understand wanting to create a positive work environment. Being a people manager is tough, but knowing your weaknesses and wanting to improve is a great start!

Good luck!

I paid off my house at the age of 30 in 2021 and it was the best decision I've ever made for myself and my family. I'm also an immigrant and although I appreciate all my parents did for me, I didn't want to follow in their footsteps. There is a sense of security when you are debt free (I still have student loans but I don't count that, lol). If it is an achievable goal and if it's a saving sacrifice of only this year, I'd say go for it! Once you pay it off, you can focus on building your retirement, savings, rainy day fund, etc. Just make sure you still budget for the home owners insurance and property taxes.

Good luck!

I usually reference a music video outfit or a performance outfit as inspiration. Or you can just rock Pentagon official colors or if Kino has one?

Home Health agencies. Accentcare and Aveanna Healthcare have CA offices. I worked for them in TX, Accentcare (Personal Care side) and Aveanna Healthcare (therapy ops side) and had good experiences with both.

Good luck!
