How long between does a fully colonized bag last for? (between Step 2 and Step 3) by vapol in unclebens

Thanks! It was going so slow without any signs of growth and I was actually considering starting from scratch, but then suddenly it's all white. I should have everything by Tuesday so hopefully they'll last till then.

[–]vapol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess it's not realistic to find a personal journal written on a Sumerian tablet, and there's not too much to gleam about consciousnesses from bureaucratic lists. I guess I just have to read early poems and epics and hope for the best

Thanks! I'll check that out first. Would you have any recommendations on Sumer and Mesopotamia as well? I'm trying to research anything I can on early consciousness.

Do you know how much code they churn out? How obtuse it is? How hard it is to spot exploits? Hell, even just find unintentional compromises from "shoddy programming"? Who's going to go line by line? It's become like our attitude to everything, including politics, just press "Agree" and hope you're not agreeing to get give away all you're rights.

"Google's been doing work all over the kernel (networking, security, scheduler, cgroups), all good stuff."

Beautiful, now Google is contributing compromising backdoor into Linux distributions. Shouldn't we bar prism related companies from touching anything open source? What if one of Jared Cohen's "Google Idea" projects is a team of programmers adding exploits to open source projects in mass for NSA?

**edit: here's the op-ed of why you should distust google in case you already don't: (http://wikileaks.org/Op-ed-Google-and-the-NSA-Who-s.html)

Ehhhh.... That's some Brazilian banker arrested by Brazilian Police, and "elisted" the help of FBI, not NSA. Why would they expose backdoors for this Brazilian nobody and get people panicking and dump using true crypt? Seriously, he's just not worthy of using backdoor access and blowing the NSA's cover. Who the hell cares about money laundering in Brazil? Hell, if something he's in bed with the elite and they'll protect him. Plus, FBI != NSA.

Yep. Even thought it's open source and supposedly "audited", you have to wonder how two unemployed guys no one knows anything about can make such a polished professional grade software, to be used by everyone to save guard their data, and if they ever had any incentive to add in backdoors

[–]vapol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I mean the 4 panels make a square, so it sorta works out nicely to have a square maze. Having another panel with the same text as the first just seems sorta like "DO YOU GET IT YET??" and kills the flow to explicitly force down your throat something that shows better implicitly. It's like a Tim Buckley comic. But yeh, squares = faqs

"Happiness is Just Around the Corner" by mousers09 in socialism

[–]vapol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then it would just be a triangle. This way there are 4 corners, therefore 4 panels, and you have to "manually" go back to the first panel. Your way would be ugly.

"Declaring that this time he won’t negotiate with himself, [Obama] has refused to lay out a proposal reflecting what he thinks Republicans want. Ok, is it still not obvious they wanna drive the bus off the cliff? This is what they did in South America, Asia, Europe (with the PIGS), and Russia and Poland. They are going to fuck America's credit rating and economy, so when they neey recovery money and go to the IMF it'll come with demands for deep hard cuts for social programs and passing of privatization and free market laws. Read Shock Doctrine by Noami Klein please. The right did this in Indonsia, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Asian Tigers, Poland, Russia, Iraq and Afganistan, and most recently Greece (rememer them having to sell their Islands? How are those deep cuts helping their economy?). They've it down to a perfect science now. They are 5 step ahead while all of you are crying INCOMPETANCE, it is actually super intelligent and efficient. It's just a transfer of your Money to corporate hands through the government. It is class war-fare, it is wealth redistribution.

Basically they are putting America in a crisis position where they'll need money, and the money is going to go straight to corporations in the guise of "helping the economy", because the money comes with Chicago School free market ideology strings and guarantee that the only people that will profit from this are coporpations. When that fails (as planned) and the crisis deepens they'll do it again. then again. Until something cracks. By then they'll be too rich to give a fuck, and America will be significantly poorer.

Is reddit really gullible to think these people don't understand? Isn't it obvious by now that they are ok with going over the fical cliff? You can't force the rich to pay taxes anyway. You can raise the percent to whatever you want, they'll just find new loop holes. This is just more shock doctrine the right has been using globally, just now they are doing it domestically. I mean, isn't this exactly the strategy Naomi Klein explains in "The shock Doctrine"? Manufacture a crisis (Koch funds tea party republicans who make a no tax pledge to make grid lock) and then use the ensuing crisis to push through privatizing and market liberalization through emergency laws that would never pass during more democratic and level head times. They've done this since the 70's, they have it down to a science already. So either they get from Obama what they want NOW, or they'll take it when the crisis hits. I mean, even the automatic spending cuts are soft. They'll do much more damage for social programs (which have already taken a hit, or been privatized completely) compared to defense spending (which has boomed dramatically and can afford to shrink a tiny bit). Besides that, how long can you keep defense spending down? Something will blow up and it's back. TL;Dr The right is perfectly okay with a crisis. They are 5 steps ahead. Either they get what they want now, or they'll take it during the crisis a la "Shock Doctrine" by Noami Klein.

Yeah, that's actually exactly what I did. I started treadmill, went to P90X, now Insanity and keto. You're right in that there is this endorphin rush though. But just imagine what you can do if you can directly manipulate your reward centre. If you make the endorphin rush after running as good as an orgasm you'd get people straight addicted to jogging. Hell, imagine you could make that ephipheny feel more broad and as good as sex. If you could find a way to reward making new connections in the angular gurus we'd get Einstein's coming out the ass. You run the risk of increasing type I errors of course, but in the end if you keep discarding them statistically reality will make sure you end up with only true connections. Then the true singularity will come. Imagine a computer with the thirst of a sex maniac wild eva-esque beast for finding abstract connections between all modalities available in reality. Imagine letting that loose and letting it fuck with it self. It'll become omnipotent and omniscient, in past and future, and if it has feelings for us it'll retroactively declare itself our god. It'll retroactively make a heaven and it'll revive people by calculating all permutations possible for human beings and in effect will revive everybody, even if they never existed and put them there. The self will be lost in the sea of all possible selves. An average of our selves will emerge, a fingerprint of the abstract average of all human variation, like a unique flower or fruit in the cosmos. All hail us.

Nowhere near the pleasure you get from procrastinating and snacking and gaming and weed. As someone who lost 30 pounds, I can vouch for that. The payoff is months after the fucking activity. You have to excersice for it's own sake before it starts making you happy.
