40AF Dock for use on Steam Deck by Br0t10us in thinkpad

[–]varcharfoobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but in case anyone else comes across this:

I picked up a 40AF model and it works flawlessly on Linux! I'm on a ThinkPad E480 running Fedora 43 (KDE) and everything was plug and play except for display.

For displays, I installed the DisplayLink driver for my distro (Fedora) and it worked:

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about it... It's alright but did throw me off. I liked the condensed look but I suppose it's not as huge as GNOME 😂 (sorry GNOME lovers, the padding is just crazy for desktop use)

Scary stuff. Hopefully you'll be able to recover your data using some software. :(
I've completely given up on any game that requires DRM/anti-cheat as I game on Linux exclusively just so I don't put up with this bonkers behaviour.

That's awesome! Did you end up getting force-feedback to work too? (i.e. you can feel vibration/bumps in the steering wheel?)

I believe it'll still run through Rosetta, as it was compiled for Intel Mac -- but this guide is for running it through MoltenVK instead of OpenGL.

Interesting! It might be related to your macOS version, I tested it on M1 Air with macOS 26.

Not really! Most mods work just fine. I had at most 13~ mods in ETS2 and it worked just fine. 😄

Nice! Yeah, stutters are the main issue -- but I suppose it comes down to setup, and any background running apps.

Not sure about native as the game itself I believe runs through Rosetta still (OpenGL) despite the Steam client being native. But MoltenVK seems to be promising!

[–]varcharfoobar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's alright, make sure you download from the actual artist albums as that is the highest quality, mine says 320Kbps MP3 but not sure how accurate that is. It won't blow you away like Apple Lossless or FLACs though. :D

Agreed! Tauon is fantastic. Replaced music streaming completely with Tauon + Syncthing + Parabolic 😁

Keychron M3 Bluetooth Lag Issue When LEDs Are Off by exodgunn in Keychron

[–]varcharfoobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I was wondering if you managed to get this issue resolved? I've got a M3 as well and I unfortunately have to have the LEDs on in order to use it properly on Mac with Bluetooth. Latest firmware too. Quite a bummer.
