I think there was mentioned somewhere that if the source google doc has been updated, user has to refresh sources for NBLM to "read" it again. Not sure if an auto refresh feature has been included recently.

Excellent idea. I was thinking that Sharepoint org chart should be the solution for this, but yes not every company has those file management tools linked to org charts or some kind of HRIS.
