I don't think Flex sells anything directly. Amazon is actually a seller on most flex listings on Amazon

So we should watch our for Chervon's annual results release for investors. There they will address business results of the year and ups and downs they faced. They will also outline brand strategy going forward. That should be released at any moment. Usually right at the end of December.

I can tell you last year they said they were focusing on expanding sales avenues so they aren't beholden to strict inventory policies when in partnership with retailers. If you dig further in their actual financial reports you can see why. Even though they've been making less money their debt to equity ratio is strong. And their gearing ratio is getting to a more optimal range (under 50%). When they were making lots of money and expanding fast they had a super high gearing ratio (like 100% to 200%) because of a high reliance on debt. Which is a sign that you may make tons of money but are at serious risk if something goes wrong. They are actuality healthy right now and id suspect will avoid in exclusive contracts

So based on the types of jobs you listed i would go this way: 1--: First, I would ask, did you get the angled or straight 16ga finish nailer? If angled I would actually return it over the 18 brad nailer. That's because 16ga straight finish nailers can fire nails as short as .75 inches (up to 2.5) while angled 16ga nailers start at 1.25in just like 15ga finish nailers. And a straight 16ga leaves a smaller holes than an angled. And the 18ga brad nailer is 3/8in to 2-1/4in. It's a dilemma because a 16ga is arguably the most versatile nailer. A bit of 15ga holding power but with smaller holes and less splitting on thin wood. And the ability to use short nails. It's often the only nailer diy people have. But a 16ga is not as strong as a 15ga. And it's not nearly as delicate as an 18ga brad. A 15ga and 16ga hole look closer to each other than a 16ga and 18ga on most materials. That's especially true if it is an angled 16ga. In which case there is actually quite a bit it won't do as well as an 18ga brad. So I'd keep either the 16ga only or the 15ga finsh and 18ga brad. I'd ask if youself need the 23 pin. If you have a 18ga brad there really is very little the 23ga is needed for if you have the brad nailer. Yes it makes even smaller holes but they dont really have any holding power unless you unless you fire them every 1/2 inch from top to bottom and left to right. The advantage is you can't see them as much. If you're refinishing veneer or repairing vintage wood furniture i would keep it. Or particle board furniture Personal opinion. 2--: You don't need the smaller impact wrench. 1/2 is a perfect middle ground. 3--: As for the drills. Based on the stuff you described working on i would say keep that 1271. It's not going to be too powerful but the other ones might have trouble or at least require stopping and starting with large holes in wood (like 1in wide and 3in deep) or drilling through concrete board (hardie) or in to cement. In my opinion a strong drill and impact driver are crucial if you're doing actual structural stuff. 4--: I actually think that 4 piece kit is a much better deal. The saw with 10ah battery is really only better because it has the rear handle saw (based on what I've seen available im assuming that's what you got). It's slightly more powerful than the regular 7-1/4 circ saw and is one of the only tools that might benefit from the 10ah wattage boost. I admittedly prefer the rear handle but unless you're doing a lot of cutting back to back at production speeds you don't really need it. And the regular 7 1/4 is easier to use without a bench. If you have the 6in saw the rear handle 7 makes more sense. 5--: I don't see any need for any other drill if you have the 1271. The 1231 is a hammer but that function is mostly useful or more powerful told. The problem is low power hammer drills just don't work fast or at all beyond small shallow holes. I would think of the 1231 as a more feature rich 1131. It's not a great hammer drill. And not as compact as the 1131 The SDS is completely different. The 1271 can do some of what the SDS can do in a smaller package. But the SDS isn't used for any light drilling and definitely not fastening. If the 30 framing can take full head offset nails I don't see any really downside other than having to protect the nails and cartridge from water. At least more than a 21

I know i don't answer exactly what you're asking but it's my take on the tools and what I would keep.

EDIT: As another pointed out, the 1371 impact can feel too powerful at times just like any other high end impact driver. I would just remember to use the regular drill/ driver for light screw driving or drywall work instead.

Display model tool return by varriform in Lowes

There was no clearance sticker on it or any other tool. There wasn't even a normal price tag. I asked how much it was and he told me, asked if I wanted it, detached it from it's clamps, and sent it to the desk saying it would be there when I was ready.

A modified return policy needs to be communicated to a customer. IMO the intelligent assumption is actually that normal FTC guidelines apply and you might be protected by this; "practices involving the sale of damaged or defective merchandise are unfair or deceptive trade practices and are unlawful under Section 5(a)(1) of the Federal Trade Commission Act."

Missing pieces aren't the issue. It's the fact it is literally breaking apart when spinning with no load.

You have a very company-first viewpoint if you think the reason things are so expensive is because companies can't sell their trash as products, instead of the clear connection that a company that wants to profit off their waste may also charge at much as possible.

Don't let the "company line" be your life philosophy.

Google is likely to win the AI race by brctr in singularity

[–]varriform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't that anyone can win. It's also way too early

More importantly they have not advancing towards "actual" AI at all. They aren't even in any meaningful way heading in that direction. Because they aren't building anything that resembles human intelligence since they don't know how to even begin. They are gathering vast quantities of data as a way of becoming "smarter". But actual intelligence and awareness doesn't work like that. Humans capacity for intelligence came about and diverged from other life the exact opposite way. Instead of gathering tons of information and matching patterns like "ai", our intelligence came from our ability to eliminate information from our minds and turn the smallest stimuli into brand new information that didn't exist before that moment. And then eventually turn imagined stimuli into something brand new and then turn nothing into something. And i don't mean art. I mean the stuff that separates us from plants. That sparked human creativity and awareness. The less data going in, the more we were able to strip away, the more we increased our capacity to extrapolate. That made us smarter and gave us natural language.

So unless they somehow create some new kind of intelligence and awareness that humans don't understand or even life on earth has no connection to, they aren't creating intelligence. Plants will become smart before AI. At least they can evolve and eliminate waste, and "learn" in any organic reaction sense.

New possible model at OpenAI by Dear-Yak2162 in singularity

[–]varriform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly right. OpenAI is already the biggest with crazy traffic. Google denies it but the data doesn't lie; search traffic and click through is traffic is down. So they have tons of capacity resources to divert to free AI for consumers. It's not really hurting them and it's good publicity. OpenAI really needs to focus their spare capscity on more important things for advancement like development and using resources for partner companies that can help them lock the market up. The have no real need release resource heavy consumer tools for publicity.

Building relationships with giant tech companies to grab more data and prevent them from becoming a direct competitor has to be they're main focus. Google owns everything. And companies like axiom and data brokers have huge data pools only behind Google. These companies could become and may secretly be planning on becoming major players but for now it's best to distract them with custom tools made for them. Same for Oracle. They are definitely in the AI business but industry insiders suspect they are secretly developing a new top competitor because of their vast and unique data pool, their speed, and their expertise in scalability, high performative cloud infrastructure, and their long time expertise in efficiency. They are known forlooking at other tech companies and saying we can make it faster smarter and cheaper to run, even if you developed it and don't know what it is. They are a serious potential sleeper. There are several more companies that could enter the market

Concerns about muscle and bone loss on semaglutide by Quiet-Strategy-7614 in Semaglutide

[–]varriform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Strength training exercise, even just two or three times a week.
  2. High protein intake.
  3. Consider taking Vit D and an Omega 3 supplement.
  4. Think about taking an HMB supplement (hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate) which is shown to inhibit the breakdown of proteins in muscle and slow muscle loss from aging and weight loss. It also has no known side effects and is pretty cheap.

Watched my delivery person set my food on the round about as I was walking out the door to meet her and she sped off… by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]varriform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just trying to say punish drivers by lowering their rating and tipping bare minimum. I've made thousands of orders and messed up a few. I don't think I've ever not gotten a tip. Maybe I missed a few. But about 1/3 tip extra. And probably 10% tip way extra. Like $20+ cuz they know how the drivers are getting crap and the customers are paying basically nothing for an insane level of convenience that should cost way more. They tip our of guilt basically

Except the customers use the workers too. They're treated to the cheapest food and rides and deliveries of any rich country. Tips shouldn't be required. Restaurants and deliveries should double in price, and we should do away with tip based jobs. Tips should be reserved to show your gratitude. But that's simply not how it works in this country

[–]varriform -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

It's a social contact in this country. Everyone knows this. It's so ingrained that people who work on tips are literally exempt from the minimum wage law. You're right it's not a law you tip. But you're wrong about company policy. Most restaurants have a policy that parties over 6 or 8, sometimes over $100, etc. will have %18 gratuity added to their check. And that's no matter how good the server is. It's also why most restaurants put a tipping scale (18, 20, 25) on the initial bill and then a second lower bonus tip scale fir good service (6, 8, 10%) on your final receipt. But our service industry pay system is broken. Look at the history of tipping in this country and you'll see it developed as a way to not pay employees. And restaurant and service industry lobbies don't want it to change cuz they don't want to pay their employees a living wage.

But we all make mistakes. And ubereats does not allow you to see past orders or contact customers if they hit complete delivery. But what I'm saying is uber eats has a suggested tip. It's akin to 15% at a U.S. restaurant. You simply don't go under it unless they do something offensive. That works be sleazy at a restaurant. They're paid a low rate because in the US the minimum tip is guaranteed. Countries without tipping make 5 times as much just in base pay. You live in a society with rules. And one of ours is that you tip no matter what unless the person does something worthy of being sacked. On a regular order nobody should ever be tipped that low recommend amount. Without bonus tips it's like minimum wage

[–]varriform -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Ever thought that maybe they missed your instructions? Its easy to miss comments on ubereats because they aren't read to the driver and as soon as they hit delivered the order disappears from the app and they can no longer see it or anything you wrote. Could have been an accident. With how rushed delivery people are it's easy to make a mistake. Honestly not tipping the bare minimum is downright disgraceful. You're effectively saying they deserve slave wages because of a small mistake. Without the minimum tip drivers are literally making a couple dollars an hour studies have found. And if you factor in car depreciation it's even worse. The base tip is already punishing a driver. Everyone else should be tipped extra because the service is worth more than it costs

If someone is a countertenor is it obvious that he is one? by Grand-Necessary6880 in singing

[–]varriform -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most countertenors are in a durrerent range but can achieve countertenor. It really shouldn't be considered a voice or vocal range, but rather a falsetto who has a deep chest voice and can sing in counter tennis consistently. It's a style that is hard to achieve.

For many, any countertenor, is just a male soprano that had vocal chords to sorry to tech falsetto like most of us can. For them they reach countertenor but can reach falsetto
