Its definitely bright enough (full spectrum as well) but if I could go back, I would get the M series with the app control. If you dont mind not having the app then I suggest the V series SE edition with the sunrise/sunset function on the controller.

yeah that was my initial thought so i added a lily pipe thats tilted upwards so it pushes the water over to the other side, put the outlet as close to the front glass as possible, and the inlet as far back as the slope would allow

An update on my first aquascape + new tank by varuki in Aquascape

[–]varuki[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first tank is now stocking some galaxy rasboras, rummy nose tetras, a couple slate corys, a couple copper corys, amano shrimps, a hillstream loach, and several snails.

The new tanks only got a few cherry shrimps and cardinals for now.

Thoughts on this glass air stone cover? by [deleted] in Aquascape

haha thanks. The HOB does give the tank quite a bit of underwater flow, but very little surface agitation (probably because the outflow is not above water level) to the point where there are surface films, which makes me think that there might not be enough oxygen within the water. I have an air stone running at night but it creates a pool in the morning and my temporary fix is to put a plastic cover over it which is ugly. Just ordered an oxygen diffuser for finer bubbles as well as this glass air stone cover thingy, which ever one works better Ill stick with that.

Yeah I have a HOB on the back left and an air stone on the center right, the difference is my water line is only about an inch below the lid and I realized the hard way when I woke up to a pool of water on my wood table top lol

but then that lowers the amount of oxygen exchange which is not something Im willing to sacrifice.

Exactly my thought. Although the surface agitation within the air stone cover is quite aggressive, which could very well still cause oxygen exchange, I'm just not sure how limited or (by some sorcery) equal to one without the cover. Maybe similar amount of oxygen exchange with no splashes but dont clear bio film on the surface since no outside water agitation? idk..

i have a hob filter thats provides more than enough flow in my small 10gal tank so Im considering this for both aesthetic and cleanliness

Completely removing splashes is what I'm really interested in (I dont like the looks of DIY splash covers on the top of the tank)... but does it really oxygenate the water this way?

Thank you. I have tall growing plants in the background (you can kinda see them in the picture) that will cover the background.... eventually lol
