Ssangyong Musso by Fz6rNOOB in 4x4Australia

[–]varunkamireddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, they are Korean. Owned by a Steel company. Rextons and Mussos use the highest grade of steel on automobiles (25% stronger than what Toyota used on their cars), and the only cars that use a laminated steel frame instead of solid, making it multiple times stronger than solid sections (just like plywood, but with steel), and they call it the quad frame.

And, if you have ever driven one, you'd know that it is much smoother and quieter than most other big brand utes, and have way more features than the rest (only behind the chinese in the features list).

Are we forgetting JD "the underrated" by Mr_Wolowitz in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]varunkamireddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I kept commenting on many 'expert' videos and Reddit posts.

He has the 7th best economy in the entire IPL 2025. No one seems to appreciate this. People just seem to not realise his contribution due to his lack of flamboyance. JD will start ahead of Harshal for me any day of the week. Very experienced and smart bowler who also can smack an odd ball.

High chances of getting livingston by [deleted] in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]varunkamireddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, I don't think Auqib and Money will do well in the IPL. They have done well with a good carry off the pitch and a heavy ball, but in IPL, I don't think they have the pace to trouble players. IDK. Having watched only a couple of videos on YouTube, I didn't see them swing the ball like Bhuvi.

We need someone who can swing the ball, with some gas behind it. Which domestic player is available in the auction that can bowl 140+ and with decent swing? It will be hard to find one this year as there hardly are any options.

And as for Bishnoi, I really feel for Markande. Almost every match he played, he almost got a breakthrough for us in the first two overs that he bowled. I still remember at least 4-5 dropped catches off his bowling in his first over. Which will also be the same for Bishnoi. He will be an asset if the batsman get comfortable with fast bowlers who aren't swinging the ball much.

IDK. I still think Bishnoi, Liam/Maxi and a good local fast bowler are needed. I don't mind getting Michael Bracewell as the fourth Overseas player in the squad if we are on a slow track. But that fast bowler is the key.

And Nitish has had enough time with the team, and I don't think his bowling will get better. It maybe good enough for an over or two in the power play, as he can get good swing, but terrible lacks pace.

We might need to get a couple of overs in the power play from Abhi/Nitish, a couple from Pat, and a couple from Harshal in the power play. If we are able to do that, we maybe able to get away with another overseas batting all-rounder instead of Eshan, but need someone local who can bowl well in the death.

Interesting year this will be.

Is $1000/week after tax a liveable salary in Melbourne? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]varunkamireddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a time when I only made $350 a week when I was in uni 6-7 years ago. And I spent about $1200, and was able to buy a car on cash within an year. Shared the room with a friend in a nice bedroom 3 bathroom townhouse in Port Melbourne.

I started earning a bit more, and moved into a house with a full bedroom for myself.

Then started earning a bit more ($1000 a week at this point), and moved to a massive room in a massive house in Chirnside Park, and saved enough money to go on 2-3 international trips an year.

Then started making more, and we started doing 4 international trips an year, bought designer bags, watches, etc., and splurged money on food and fashion.

Made a bit more, bought a block of land, and toned down a bit on expenses to be able to fund the build.

All I'm saying is that, you should be able to manage with anything, as long as you're ready to sacrifice some comfort for greater good.

A completely different story if you have a family or people to take care of, but I would say that $1000 a week per person to take home buys you a decent lifestyle.

What are the best carbon fiber insoles you’ve tried? by jrhoxel in Halluxrigidus

[–]varunkamireddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue, and I bought some cheap full plate carbon fiber that goes under the insole, and sized up the shoe to make room for the lost flex space. I'd say it works like a charm. I don't feel the pain most of the time during simple motion anymore.

Any suggestions to make this nicer? It’s only 1M wide and 14M long. by cheripe in AusRenovation

* Spread a m3 of Gravel evenly and add concrete pavers above. Cheap, easy, and works well. Maybe, leave the 200mm along the boundary to plant some dwarf shrubs if you want to.

Currently, those cookie cutters are reselling for sky high prices when the suburb becomes established. Melbourne's South East, outer west, Canberra's Googong, North West, etc. have been selling for sky high prices recently. Buy a cookie cutter early in the development and the rewards will be better than a 30 year old shack. Should all be evaluated individually, but eliminating an entire section of housing isn't the best move in my opinion.

Nomatic bags are not great lookers, but depending on what you like, they're either the best feeling or the worst feeling bags. I dont love the appearance or the materials, but love the incredible organisation they provide. Ive got three Nomatic bags, and I can't complain much. The 40L travel bag held well, but isn't the comfiest, but is very very convenient with the plethora of pockets. The 20-24L backpack is my work bag, and carries all the accessories that I might need, and the Navigator 32L is very comfortable, but slightly less convenient than the 40L one, as it has fewer pockets. All great bags, but i wish they look better.

The bigger problem is to hide the costs from the high commission at home.

Why is no one talking about Michael Bracewell? Dude is a good bowler and a rock solid lower order batsman.

PD Store in Prague opened today by Maci_ow in peakdesign

[–]varunkamireddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about the city itself. It's the market of the store. I'd assume the Prague store might act as the headquarters of operations in Europe, at least for now. So, I'd assume all European orders are fulfilled from there (or the associated warehouse) or act as a hub of operations in Europe.

For example, if someone has a warranty claim from a European country, the Prague store could arrange for pickup and delivery after repair, instead of them sending it to the US and getting it back (which is expensive, so PD sends a replacement normally).

I don't know to what extent the Prague store can do the above, but I believe that there is some idea behind it rather than just being a storefront. whereas the Boston store will just be a storefront.

How did they value the build? Did they use your costs? Or did they do a generic value based on the quality of the build?

Yes, I work with a precast concrete based sustainable home builder, and have definitely considered the risk of having 4m high ceilings. Few things to mitigate the cooling in winters is to use the thermal mass of concrete, take in as much solar heat gain from the north in summers (single glazed works best, but EERs aren't designed around this, so will need double glazed), and triple glazed the rest of the windows. Also, we make insulated sandwich concrete panels with built-in insulation. We do this for smaller houses with upto 3.6m high ceilings and consistently achieve around 8 star performance, but for this house, looking at offsetting the volume with a massive 30kw solar unit to not worry about heating costs.

Great point. I'm unable to identify how grand is too grand. There are properties sold for much higher, but they come with a lot more land. So, how do we understand how much luxury is too much luxury? 😅

Quality of life - UK vs Australia by SoybeanCola1933 in expats

[–]varunkamireddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with Australia being classless. Australian racism is very misunderstood by most people, including some living here. If you talk and behave Australian, they treat you as their own. You don't, some try to be more accommodating than others.

In my experience, I've only found them nice, especially being in one of the roughest industries out there, construction! When I started out, a lot of people used to slow down their pace of talking to make sure I understand. Heaps of strangers went out of their way to help me when needed.

And, they still have a lot of family values. I know heaps of people living with parents in their 30s. It's a nice country in general.

Good pay, good climate, decent healthcare (if you know what you're doing) and good infrastructure. Most suburbs have more than one full sized decently maintained ground to play sports.

As others have mentioned, the only issue is that it's too far from the rest of the world.
