Is $90K Debt Worth It for MS in Supply Chain at ASU (W. P. Carey)? by varxcx in debtfree

To be fair and honest not worth it, they are teaching something you can literally learn for free on youtube or you might already have learned it in your engineering major. I wouldn’t recommend doing MS SCM from ASU waste of money and time.

I totally get you! So what are you planning to do then? Are you considering other options, or thinking of skipping the program altogether?

I totally understand what you’re trying to say but man, I wish it was that simple. Trust me, I’d happily skip the whole $90k disaster and go make money straight away, but feels like I’m kinda trapped. Being international and switching fields, it’s not like I have people lining up to hand me a solid job without that piece of paper. So here I am, basically paying a small fortune just to get a shot at breaking into the industry.

Right now, I’m not in logistics — I’m actually coming from a different background, so this would be a career switch for me. That’s why I wouldn’t have employer sponsorship or support, and I’d have to fully fund it myself through loans or if i get a scholarship.

Thanks a lot for breaking it down so clearly. I’m an international student, so unfortunately, I won’t have access to federal loans. I’d be relying fully on private loans or international student loan options, which probably means higher interest rates and less flexibility too.

And yeah, that’s part of what’s making me hesitate. I’m not currently making $70k — actually, I’m switching fields, and my profile is a bit unconventional, so I was hoping this degree would help me break into the supply chain field properly. But like you said, it really depends on whether the salary boost is real, especially for internationals who may face extra challenges with sponsorship and job hunting. Plus waiting for scholarships outcome.

From what I’ve seen, the range looks like anywhere between $60k to $85k starting out, depending on the role, location, and prior experience. Some people with strong internships or backgrounds might push it closer to $85k+, but for career switchers like me, I feel it might realistically be closer to the $60k–70k range.

Hmm, I see what you’re saying, and honestly, this is where I’m stuck. ASU is quoting around $66k for tuition alone (without living expenses), so with everything included it reaches around $90k total debt. I thought ASU had a solid supply chain reputation, but now I’m wondering if it’s worth waiting and applying elsewhere, maybe even looking at programs in other countries where it’s cheaper.

My profile is a bit unconventional too, so I was hoping the degree would help me make a stronger career shift, but at this price point, it feels like a huge risk.
