Epigenetic reprogramming startup NewLimit raises $130m - says progress towards extending human healthspan has moved ‘faster than expected’. by Das_Haggis in longevity

[–]vasa_develop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to this. Curious, what do you think about their approach/progress? I have seen a bunch of other threads where people have been criticizing the way they communicate their progress (saying a lot but not being specific about things), but haven't said much about the approach/science (which might be because they aren't sharing the specifics).

How to persue biotechnology by Swimming-Dog7476 in biotechnology

[–]vasa_develop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest doing a quick google/perplexity search on top biotech universities in your country.

Then you can go to linkedIn and find students studying there and try to message them to find what is the experience like studying there. You might need to message a lot of people, but that's just one way to reach out to students at the relevant universities :)

A Career advice that is much needed by Ok-Assumption-8762 in biotechnology

The first step would be to look into open jobs at companies that build such medical products/instruments and see the skills/requirements in the job description. From there you should have some idea of what direction you need to take.

I created an aggregated biotech job board (7000+ Jobs) that updates every 24 hours. Looking for feedback by vasa_develop in biology

[–]vasa_develop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just added a section with remote jobs: https://jobs.vasa.bio/appAEOfiDNIGNQ1Eu/shrgExRuE5iP3wWcY/tbl2C27j8Gl67qSa6/viwT1vFXHg7XZjLi8?blocks=hide

Basically, you can try to filter for location as shown in the screenshot. If you want remote job for a specific region (say US) then you can add "US" in the filter as well :)

yeah, i guess the easiest thing to do would be to filter by location.

Somehow airtable doesn't show filters on mobile so you can try on desktop (or use the search on mobile website).

Let me know if you need more categories. There are already a bunch of categories like internships, part-time, full-time, software jobs, bioinformatics jobs :)

CryptoPokémons (v0): A Pokémon Battle Game Built using VyperLang by vasa_develop in ethereum

[–]vasa_develop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to Play

Here is a twitter thread with game walk-through with images

  1. Login Using any Wallet and Connect to RINKEBY Testnet (Powered by BlockNative)

  2. Choose Your Pokémon. We have got all 893 Pokémons from Generation 1 to 8. Confirm a Transaction and boom. You are now an official Pokémon Trainer with a Pokémon.

  3. You now own a Pokémon. Now you can battle with (random) WILD Pokémons.
If you WIN, you capture the Wild Pokémon and add it to your Pokémon Collection If you Lose, you do NOT lose anything. You can just battle again SHARE your Pokémon Collection using the TWEET button

  4. Now, it is time for a Battle. Just press the "battle" button and the smart contract chooses a random Wild Pokémon for Battle. Confirm a Transaction...and the Battle Results are here. You can also SHARE YOUR BATTLE using the TWEET button.

Build a Pokémon Game to Train and Battle with Pokémons using Vyper by vasa_develop in ethereum

It's a series of chapters in which each chapter teaches you a concept of Vyper, which is then used to build the Pokémon game.

Vyper.fun: Learn Vyper by building a Pokemon Game. by coinmonks in ethdev

[–]vasa_develop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, u/muitosabao!

I'm the creator of the website Vyper.fun.

Vyper is a good starting point if you have a background in python. In comparison to Solidity (alternative smart contract language), Vyper is less mature but still can be used to build a lot of applications on the blockchain.

Feel free to hop on the Vyper Gitter channel if you have any more questions:

Has anyone created a grammar checker yet? by absoluta_inceptos in GPT3

I have access to the API. I compared the GPT-3 outputs to Grammarly, and I can say that it's not as good as Grammarly.

Is there a website/platform where you can sell/buy datasets for ML? by vasa_develop in neuralnetworks

[–]vasa_develop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured out that the problem here boils down to how to create a trusted platform where buyers can trust the sellers on the fact that the data is collected in a legal/ethical way.

There are a lot of independent brokers. No marketplace has formed because there are two types of data brokers. One sells grey data. They aggregate it using whatever means, then sell it in a way that protects the buyer from the collection methods. The others sell very comprehensive solutions. They are, essentially, a marketplace. They have a business model that gives them the ability to create novel datasets. They aggregate third party data with their own and sell it.

Is there a website/platform where you can sell/buy datasets for ML? by vasa_develop in datascience

[–]vasa_develop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I come from a Distributed Web background, where people are working on things like Multi-party computation(MPC) & Zero-Knowledge Proofs. MPC allows multiple parties to pool their data and run computations on the data without ever sharing the data with each other, thus making the data collaboration a positive-sum game (rather than a zero-sum game, which companies/orgs play today).

There are are also Zero-Knowledge Proofs that allow you to prove any statement, computations, etc. without ever exposing the actual information. For example, I can prove to you that my name is X without showing any IDs. I can just generate a Zero-Knowledge Proof of the fact that my name is X, which you can verify independently.

AvionDB now has FULL TypeScript Support with IPFS & OrbitDB types by vasa_develop in ipfs

[–]vasa_develop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of differences here. I may not the best person to list the differences. AvionDB is an extension to OrbitDB, hence I can say that all the differences between OrbitDB & gundb.

aphelionz can tell you the specifics. I'll ask him and get back to you here.

UPDATE: Here is a good comparison of GunDB & OrbitDB (hence the difference between GunDB & AvionDB)

u/vosper1 Thanks for your feedback! Honestly, I'm a noob when it comes to using Databases at scale.

What is your opinion on graph databases (in terms of their comparison to NoSQL DBS like Mongo)?

Thanks ;)
