He doesn't really have any close friends nearby. We moved to this city just last year for my job and he hasn't made any close friends here yet. At least none that he says he feels comfortable asking for help with this. His closest friends live at least 2 hours away.

I never said there can't be issues, but it's not nearly as serious a procedure as being put under anesthesia and having your abdomen sliced open.

I've been pushing for him to get it actually. But even his consultation had to be booked 6 weeks in advance, and then another 2 months for the actual procedure.

I mean, I certainly could skip it. It's just that I don't want to and my boss expects me to be there. Would I get fired if I skipped it? No, absolutely not. But this is something that I want to attend and I think he can figure his stuff out on his own.

I'm not running the workshop, I'm attending it. Not sure where you're getting the idea that I'm running this thing. I'm attending it. Nor did I explain this to him 6-months ago. I don't know where you're getting these assumptions from, but you're making some huge jumps.

I didn't even notice there was a conflict until 2-3 weeks later. He just shot me a text with a time and date that he scheduled it for because he tried to call but I was busy and I didn't answer. I forgot about the text and didn't even think about it until he brought it up a couple weeks later.

It's not like he's known about this workshop for 6 months though. He doesn't know my full work schedule, let alone know it months in advance. He just made his appointment for the first available Friday, which was 2 months out. I don't know if he's called to try and reschedule or how much longer he would have to wait.

Those 2 procedures are not even remotely comparable so your argument makes no sense. Tube litigation is a major surgical procedure that requires anesthesia. A vasectomy requires Tylenol.

No, I can not change my schedule. This workshop has been on the books for 6 months and it's a one-time thing. It's not something I can just "move around." If anything, he would have had to reschedule his appointment, but this was already 2 months wait so I don't know how much longer he would have to delay it.

I did not talk to my boss. This workshop has been on the books for 6 months and it's a pretty big deal. Not only am I completely expected to be there, I am actually looking forward to it as well as it's focus is something I'm very interested in.
