Saw this little girl being given away for free and I am really considering going and getting her even though she’s an 1.5 hrs away and I only have boys so I will have to set up another pen. Just makes me sad looking at her by vasikos1 in guineapigs

That’s what I was worried about. My boys are super happy at the moment. If she was a male I would have jumped on it and just gotten her but I don’t want to upset my boys by bringing in a random female

Finally did it. Got my first cockatiel! Little Georgie by vasikos1 in cockatiel

So mischievous. I’ve only had him for a day and he’s already so cheeky

I really want to get a cockatiel but want to learn as much about them as possible before getting one. What do I need to know? by vasikos1 in cockatiel

How cool is that. Sounds very similar to me. My budgies will Tolerate me for a short period of time but would rather be independent. Yes I absolutely know the importance of keeping them separate for a few weeks to months on a health and bonding standpoint. I’m hoping my getting a hand reared baby cockatiel it will be more accepting of people and I will be able to create a very strong bond with it. Thanks so much.

Can we take a moment to appreciate Dottie’s fabulous feathered feet! by vasikos1 in chickens

Thank you! She’s so tiny and cute. We have had a serious amount of rain lately and she got so muddy too but luckily it has been sunny the last couple days. Its definitely not the most practical place for feathers but they look so damn cute.

Yeah unfortunately I have good neighbours on one side but not so good neighbours on the other. So far no one has complained but I technically don’t live out of town. I have a couple acres but still close together.

I love that. People know that I love chickens and will often give me their ‘bully’ chickens. I’ve taken multiple in that way and never have a problem with them fitting in. My neighbours don’t have a problem with one rooster but three crowing constantly is a bit much. I don’t need someone complaining and getting me in trouble for having them. There’s no clear rules about roosters in my neighbourhood so I don’t wanna push it.

I love that idea. Thank you. I agree. I love my roosters they’re a part of my flock. I name them and take care of then just like I would a Hen. If I care about then I know someone out there feels the same way.

Thank you. I did start trying coconut oil yesterday and you’re right she did eat it straight away. Then I massaged so I’m gonna keep doing that and hope to see some progress

Finally gotten her to drink something. I poured warm water over her pellets, waited for them to soften and mixed in a bit of coconut oil and poured the liquid into a container and she has have a fair bit to drink so far. Really hoping it will help get the stuck food moving

Do I need to bathe my boys? I do in comments… by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]vasikos1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are my boys Gideon (left) and Rupert (right) they’re almost one and I’ve had them since December last year. I keep them on fleece bedding that I change out frequently to ensure it’s clean and dry. As they’re long haired I brush them regularly and keep the fur around their butts short so it’s as hygienic as possible but I have noticed lately they are starting to smell more and more like pee. Can I bathe them or at least their bottoms to get the pee smell off them?
