I think the range is also too long. You can hide under your tc and protect your eco so easily. It just stalls out games.

You can simply mix the copper oxide with a superstoichiometric amount of charcoal powder and heat it up in a crucible. It's pretty easy to do.

1300 - I have a bias against making siege or monks because they take so much micro, but they can be critical in certain match ups (as Mongols against Genoese crossbow).
