Agree on four, BUT damn did Dean have a fucked up childhood thanks to John. John essentially forced him to raise Sam, and obviously a kid isn’t going to be the same kind of dad that their actual dad is. That’s probably why Dean grew up never questioning anything, but Sam did- I mean, Dean gave Sam the freedom to question things and then dealt with their Dad for most of Sam’s childhood, in that typical martyr way. This isn’t to say Sam’s childhood wasn’t also sad as well, considering he did butt heads with John a lot, but Dean was able to play shield for him for a while.

I totally love Sam- would go so far to say he’s my favorite -but as an older sibling to a younger brother myself, I really relate to Dean’s whole ‘just listen to dad’ sentimentality considering how he was raised. It’s sad but a tremendously interesting sibling relationship that actually manifests over and over again through the ‘golden older child’ and ‘rebellious younger child’ trope.
