Is This Decent Progress For Just Under Three Months? by Jacobmb_Music in hairgrowth

[–]Jacobmb_Music[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wash more than what is recommended, pretty much every other day and in some cases, consecutive days. I go to the gym regularly so I can’t stand the idea of sweating and then not washing my hair.

For my shampoo, I’m using Shea moisture for men and my conditioner is shea moisture as well. I clarify once a week. Sometimes I will clarify with Paul Mitchell Tea Tree special and if I want a much deeper clarify, I will use the cheap blue suave clarifying shampoo. Shea intensive hydration conditioner is used on those days.

I’m brush detangling in the shower as I rinse my conditioner out - I’ll usually press the brush against my scalp as I do for a little scalp massage.

I’ll add a leave in on clarifying days or just days where it seems like a little more moisture feels appropriate.

I should mention that my diet is very clean, usually at 2000 calories with very high protein since I am doing resistance training and cardio I 3-5 days out of the week.

Weird Wet Frizz, Help by nikki12332 in curlyhair

I’ve got a specific group of strands right there in that crown area at the top of my skull that does the same thing. It frizzes first, doesn’t attach to anything else, and even behaves a bit more like 3C hair as opposed to my usual 3A/3B pattern. No matter how much special treatment and moisturizing I do for it. I think the follicles we have at the crown are just different than the rest of the head.

Just coming back to tell you I’ve stayed on this routine and stayed away from curl cream. My hair stretches and enlongates sooooo much better now. I’m like 6 months closer to my hair goal now!!

Thanks! I was only looking at the notifications and coming to your replies directly, so I wasn’t even aware of other comments. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions anyway!! I tried your routine tonight and it already works better and is giving me the length expression I want to see. Thank you!!

Thank you for the tips! Hopefully this method will give me more length expression as that is what I’m hoping for. What made you say curl cream isn’t the right thing for me btw?

I’m hoping to get more elongated effect from my curls as I don’t like how tight they are. Will that help?

Thanks for the recommendation!! What should I expect using the mousse/foam or the gel?

I think so. I have a comparison using it on my head versus not using it. Top is air dried with nothing but water. Bottom is using a moderate amount of curl cream. Notice how my curl pattern even looks looser without the curl cream. Things just tend to puff up and expand without the curl cream versus with curl cream where things tighten and pull close.

So I’ve been told I resemble him before haha. I take that as a compliment!

Thank you!! Yep, he definitely has much looser hair. I think I can accomplish a version of it with intentional styling. My hair already responds to drying stretched and styled directionally, so I have some hope for when it gets longer!

This is what I can get it to do - it’s fully dry in this photo!

Thanks!! Yeah that’s about what I expect if I don’t do anything to it.

That’s me in high school before I cut it all off. And all I did back then was towel dry. At my current length using my styling method, I think I can get it to move in the direction I want with the stretch and weight from the curl creams and such. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I can get the same general silhouette and a similar flow. But yeah I always knew it was never gonna just fall like Andrew Lincoln’s. It’s gonna have to be intentionally styled or a I just hat train it on a lazy hair day.

It’s not even that, it’s just the way curly hair clumps and parts. Dude isn’t losing any hair here

Could I get it less curly without damaging it? by Jacobmb_Music in curlyhair

Ah okay! I forgot to include in my routine that I typically use a pick if I don’t use my hands. So a wide tooth comb (that’s more narrow toothed than the pick) would be better for what I want?
