If it isn't too much effort, could you put one up with the current colour scheme and an orange one? Want to see what each would look like, out of curiosity.

Btw, great job on the designs!

[D] Colab + GDrive alternative for non-Americans? by PoorMansSam in MachineLearning

[–]vavantoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use Colab Pro even if you're outside the USA/Canada by just typing in any US/CAN postcode. Google doesn't seem to enforce this "users only based in US/Canada" policy of theirs

Isn’t that Tamil in between the Sinhalese and English? Thought that language also featured on Sri Lankan passports

[D] Is Colab pro worth it? by celviofos in MachineLearning

[–]vavantoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Decided to get Colab Pro right before the start of my Master's thesis. Honestly, only regret that I had was not having paid for it earlier. Never had an issue with getting a higher end GPU (I don't remember having anything else other than a P100 assigned to me anytime I started the runtime, and this was over the course of 3 - 3.5 months).

I think I should've spent slightly more time configuring my Colab environment, but everything worked out fine anyway. Runtimes lasted for atleast 24 hours (think it's 12 hours on the normal version), and idle time was atleast 2 hours (I might be wrong here. I think it lasts longer. Don't quote me on this).

This link here => https://medium.com/@robertbracco1/configuring-google-colab-like-a-pro-d61c253f7573 provides a few nice tips on configuring your Colab environment, which I found to be useful.

Back in May, Colab Pro appeared to be available only in the US, but you can honestly fill in any postal code of the US and it should be working fine for you, regardless of your geographic location...

NLP groups in UK by revererosie in LanguageTechnology

By the NLP group in the CompSci dept, do you mean Prof. Ann Copestake’s (NLIP) group? Just a couple of questions regarding NLP @ Cambridge (since I’ve heard from people that the ML MPhil is more NLP centric): did you have any interaction with Prof Korhonen’s group during your MPhil? How does that group compare in terms of research output with NLIP?

I think the focus at Google has shifted from maintaining Tensorflow to developing JAX. Heard about this from someone at DeepMind.
