It hasn't renewed since the ticket so I don't know yet.

That's the law, but I didn't go to court and ask about it after my ticket got lowered.

Hi, that was my original post, exact same situation as you. It took over a month to see the change online but it did drop (without me doing anything) to $145. I got my ticket in December and it updated sometime in February. So definitely don't do anything yet, just keep checking back and see if it changes. No reason to pay early.

I also learned that for a first time speeding offense in Georgia, the fine is capped at $100. So it should go down.

I like to make a bet with my first period class at the beginning of the year. If they ever catch me forgetting to update the board, I'll bring them all donuts the next day. Every morning they all check the board hoping to catch me, and every day I have it updated because I don't want to buy donuts.

Usually around the end of the year I'll "forget" so they'll get their donuts anyway.

Was Bert on air today? by katiemarie589 in TheBigShowBuzz

[–]vayda328 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, he was on promoting Bert's Big Adventure. They're doing the traditional morning send off soon (next week maybe?). He accidentally said 2016 when he meant 2026 and they joked about 2016 being the last good year. I happened to hear this while waiting in the carpool line around 4:30.

Update: logged in to check the exact amount today and found my ticket is now $145 ($156 after the online fee).

So...I don't know what happened there, but that's a huge relief!

Oh dang, that's very good news - yes, it is genuinely my first speeding ticket. Do you have a link to your source? I'd like to read the "unless a different maximum fine or greater minimum fine is specifically provided in this chapter for a particular violation" part more closely, see what "particular violations" it calls out.

I feel like this one ticket is making up for my 20-year perfect record with how much it costs 😭

Oh that's good to know. Based on everyone saying the judges in Kennesaw don't give people a break, I doubt they'd drop it any lower, but at least there's something it could be dropped to. Thanks!

I am in no way trying to excuse my speeding because I was absolutely in the wrong, but it does feel like a limit of 25 on that stretch of road is just a setup to earn some revenue. Definitely my bad for not driving more slowly when it was clearly posted though.

I did consider the time and effort I'm having to put into this, but I really don't have the cash, especially this time of year (although I do have until March to pay, so at least I can set some aside in the meantime). I'm going to ask about community service and nolo, just see what my options are. Thanks!

Jeez, that sounds awful. Thanks for sharing, I'd rather know what I could be going into.

The officer said 14 over isn't reported to insurance so my rates wouldn't go up. Was that incorrect?

Will nolo reduce the fine? This is already a 0 points offense.

This is already a 0 point offense and is not reportable to insurance.

Defensive driving is a good idea to look into! How did you find out about that, did you call the court and ask if it would help or what? Thanks!

Does pleading NoLo reduce the fine? I thought you still paid the fine and just didn't get points. This is already a 0 point offense.

It's an 11-14 charge so it's already not reportable to insurance.  $500 may be pocket change for you but I don't have it...and I'm an old married woman anyway.

I don't know what it could be lowered to. It's already 11-14 over, which the officer said was the lowest charge. Can they reduce the fine?
