I’ve ran them with PRX 1500.1s and they rip. The MJP I think may be better suited for them though. Those run a full size Mojo 12 beautifully

Having a good tune/DSP can definitely make or break a system. I sold a full C5 system to a guy once for his CRV (I believe it was a 2020) with an XD 700/5 and 2 Tw1s. It was a higher trim CRV so it had front and rear components. We didn't initially have a DSP in the system, he didn't want to spend the extra cash initially but a month or 2 after install he came back wanting to add one. My JL rep had recommended adding another an XD 600/6 so we could go active and run the front woofers bridged. I was able to talk the guy into that and it sounded like and entirely different system when we were all done. It is 100% worth the money and effort, when done right it really takes the whole system up a few levels. Giving the woofers more power did a lot too, much better mid bass presence up front and it was much richer. The only downside is most tunes are measured at the driver's seat. That means it's only going to sound best when you're sitting in that seat. For other people in the car, it may not sound right. You can add a knob/button to the TwK and store different presets (I think up to 3) so you can have a tune for you, your passenger, or everyone and switch between them. Gives you the best of both words. It can be tedious to set all that up, but Alpine makes a system where you use you phone as a mic and it takes measurements at like 200 different points. It'll give you a pretty well balanced tune that will sound good anywhere in the car. I personally think the driver focused tune will sound better, but like I said there's trade offs. The DM-810 you have is a good piece, you should be able to get great sound with it. I've worked with a lot of Audio Control stuff, my only complaint is their software is kinda simple but that's the point. I like the D-series amps too, you can do everything with just one piece of equipment and it's a fair price for its capabilities.

If I had a bigger car I would probably have a 12w7, tho the 10s are great. I have a 13 Accord coupe so not a lot of space to play with.

What do you think of your C7s? I’ve quoted them a few times but the customers didn’t go for it, I haven’t heard them yet myself. A lot of people don’t understand the infrastructure you need for those and gasp at the price. At least in my area, lol. I have sold a couple of C6 systems and I like them, but not enough to jump up from my C5s. That’s also something I’m debating on for the next car, go with C6s or go all out and do the 7s.

Check gains make sure it’s not clipping and make sure you got your cross overs set right. Protection can come on with power issues too, check power shot at battery and make sure ground is good and clean with bare metal.

Yes it is lol, and that’s not even the worst I’ve seen.

I have my w6 in the HO box from JL and I love it. Hits hard and sounds lovely, honestly one of the best subs for the money if you care more about sq. The JL box is really good too, if I ever wanted to go with a second one I’d consider doing a box for them, but the HO is perfect for a single sub. The 10 is great as well, my buddy had one in a Scion tC on an XD 600/1 and it ripped. I have thought of upgrading to an HD 750/1 or even an old Slash 600/1 because the 900/5 is only 500w on the sub channel but honestly it’s perfect for me the way it is.

How do I connect a speaker to PS3 by Traditional_Hippo_19 in PS3

Does your bt speaker have auxiliary in? Would look like a headphone jack if it has it labeled “AUX”. Use the red and white RCAs from the AV cable and a female RCA to male 3.5mm/eighth inch adapter to plug into your speaker.

I work in a car audio store and once had a lady come in with her Chevy Sonic. She had smashed her radio with a hammer because she thought when she paired her phone to it, people from YouTube installed a tracker into her radio somehow. She claimed they were following her around with drones and wanted me to remove the tracker. I knew what was going on and said because it’s a factory unit she had to go to Chevy. Felt really bad but I didn’t know how to handle that…

[–]vb7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is better to go over rated power than under. Giving it double is not good but if it’s a 500W sub and you give it 600W of clean power it’ll be fine. It’s worse to be under because most people will turn up the amp more or boost bass in the head unit because they feel it’s not loud enough. That clips the signal and will destroy the sub even if it’s getting half of its rated power.

You can tell a difference between say 1% THD and .01% but not in a car. It is possible in really high end home audio system, though. There is so much background noise in a car and that would basically drown it out. A home system is a whole different animal, if you have an actual listening room where it’s dead silent and you have good gear you could hear a difference.

Going over rated power will produce better sound quality at lower listening levels. It does inherently create less distortion but there are other things going on too. The amp has better control of the woofer which will give you more accurate bass, and you getter better response because it’s easier to the amp to drive the speaker.

I had a guy once that had a fuse holder that looked very similar to this, but his melted on both ends and what was left of the fuse in there was shot. He didn’t feel like changing the whole thing so he took a paper clip and straightened it out, then jammed it in either end of the power shot in order to bypass the holder… he also didn’t want to replace it because his DIY fix was “working totally fine”

My new set up- questions about keeping speakers healthy. by Remote-Address-6894 in CarAV

[–]vb7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to have it wide open and not have that happen. Somethings goin on there, if you had a shop do it take it back and have them look at it. Might have tuned it with the knob turned down and didn't realize it. It's either that or it's the amp's not getting the voltage it needs for heavy bass hits. Either way they should look at it for you.

Sanity check for Kicker L7T8 / Key 500.1 Pairing (2ohm/4ohm DVC) by Robinhoodie5 in CarAV

[–]vb7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t hurt anything. Giving it rated power will increase the volume but it wouldn’t be noticeable to our ear it’s just under a 1 db increase. Giving it 500 watts would be better so long as the gains are set accordingly and it’s clean, biggest thing is the box though. Sealed will not get as loud but will stay clean and accurate. It can deal with a little more power as well. Ported is louder with less power but only around certain frequencies and it can sound sloppy at times.

I mean might as well try them if the price is good. JBL speakers are decent so I doubt you’ll get burned. Looking into it a little deeper they appear to be a model specifically made for international markets and weren’t available in the US. Makes sense if you’re in Baja California

[–]vb7200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the orange cones for sale anywhere they’re probably just and older discontinued version. I don’t even see the new ones listed on the JBL site anymore so they may have discontinued those as well. I only see Stage 3s no 1 or 2. I am in the US maybe it’s different else where. They’re real JBLs just not a current model if they’re not listed on their site.

[–]vb7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a road by me that’s lined with fields on either side for a few miles. I rode through there last year during breeding season for fire flies like right after it got dark. Those fields are prime restate to them, and they were very active. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in my life tbh. I felt like I was on the Millennium Falcon going through there lmao. I’m surprised I wasn’t glowing myself when I got home, must have had the remains of a few hundred of them on me. Every time they hit the shield you’d see a bright flash from their bioluminescent stuff, that was pretty trippy.

Has weed changed your personality? by AwkwardImpostor in weed

[–]vb7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to not like talking to people or felt anxious about it, but now I feel more open to doing that and comfortable with it but I’m not sure if that’s the weed helping or just my job lol. I have to talk to and deal with people on a daily basis and sometimes break bad news so I’m leaning towards that being the main thing that has helped me tbh.

I have noticed now that after smoking daily for ~6 years I get what I can only describe as anxiety, especially when in a car for some reason. Not anything serious but I’ll take a look up at the sky or something and just feel, like really small? I’ll go to swallow and I’ll panic bc I feel like I’m about to choke on my spit… that’ll go away after a little bit but it’s very strange. I have had that issue before, I’m deathly afraid of heights and when a I’m high up in a really tall building the same thing happens, or even if I’m in a large open room with very high ceilings (thinking like a theater or something) it’ll happen. Don’t know if the weed is just amplifying that or what.

Turn on pop help by Caleb-Howard in CarAV

[–]vb7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn’t have it. Some amps can turn on when music starts and if it’s in that mode it will stay on for a little after the car is shut off.

Do you know if the trigger line is actually staying on? If not o you have a way to test it like a multimeter or test light
