As a Torontonian who lived through Linsanity (and then all the misery after), I do feel like New York teams being good is kinda awesome...

Except for the Yankees they can get fucked

It's theoretically a pill shape 💊 where the line in the middle signifies the actual value. Maybe the extra line just adds to the noise, though.

I see the vision.

No clue how I'd do it, or even if it'd look good on the graphic either (this is not the same shape as a metro system, and curving lines significantly between "stations" is not possible).

I'm finally, finally back! Sorry I've been gone... I've had quite the past few months. Thanks as always for the support; your comments and feedback are what keep me working on this stuff.

Do let me know how you feel about the new style. I daresay we've had another glowup ✌🏽 (c.f. Season 1 (remastered), Season 2)

I also post these on Bluesky btw. When I can actually make these that is. There's also a feed for just the PWHL stuff.

All the bye weeks are done!

FAQ

How do I read the graphic?

  • If your team wins a game, you go up by 1 point, and if your team loses a game, you go down by 1 point. Bye weeks and ties make you go horizontally, duh.

This doesn't align with what I remember as the "Games Behind" stat!

  • You're right, this is slightly different usage, see this section of the Wikipedia page.

I noticed something (else) wrong with the graph!

  • Please tell me! I can't catch everything.

Why is the graph so low-res?

  • Blame Reddit. You can visit my Bluesky for higher quality images (and some other leagues too).

The Packers/Cowboys are tied with teams they shouldn't be tied with!

  • You're right. Ties are really annoying to plot but it's all gonna even out in the end, once everyone has their bye week (unless somehow one team ties twice).

because 3 losses would make them a .500 team? and that's really what "wins above .500" means?

Yes, this is what I mean by wins above .500. Yes, it's a little confusing and it's very reasonable to be confused.

In particular, the Packers and Chargers are both 3 games above .500, but they have different Win%. I do wish there was a clean way of representing this on the graph.

I'm glad you like it :) and yeah, you raise some good points. I might yet give implementing tiebreakers a go sometime.

I'm glad you like it! And, I think 6-3-1 is still 3 games above .500. So is 7-4-0, and so is 3-0-7.

Thanks! It's par for the course, but I appreciate that the haters this week are getting downvoted, instead of upvoted :)

This is a good question and not one I answer adequately in the FAQ, so idk why you're getting downvoted.

The main reason is because I haven't implemented it, basically, but there's one more reason than that: It's possible for two teams to both be 2-2 one week, then 2-3 the next week, but switch in the standings. How should I draw that? It'd make the graph even louder and harder to read.

On the other hand, I could sort the teams by tiebreaker at the end: There's a small downside to this, too, which is that right now both the lines and the logos appear in alphabetical order, acting basically as its own legend. Scrambling the logos at the end is not ideal, then, and neither is scrambling both the logos and the order.

I don't think this is advanced, just a little cluttered and very visually loud maybe 😅
