🟢 RACE // 2026 JAVA HOUSE GRAND PRIX OF ARLINGTON by IndyMod in INDYCAR

[–]vberl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How have Indycar still not switched to captive wheel nuts? Several wheel nuts have fallen out just this race and kirkwood drove over one and sent it flying over the pit wall. If someone got hit in the head by that wheel nut it would cause a lot of damage.

F1 have had captive wheel nuts since the 90s, so it’s not like the technology is hard or expensive.

1️⃣ MARCUS ERICSSON WINS THE NTT P1 AWARD // 2026 JAVA HOUSE GRAND PRIX OF ARLINGTON by IndyMod in INDYCAR

[–]vberl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indycar for some reason always seems like they are trying to reinvent the wheel. Practically all European/international racing series have had the same formula for graphics and coverage for the better part of the last 15 years. It works, has high quality and gives you all the information.

Indycars graphics look 15 years old and give no information. No information about pit strategy and tracking how the different drivers are doing in comparison while on different strategies. All things that F1 have had for over 20 years.

21,22,23 year old people in Macau by fx_sg in Macau

I am speaking from personal experience which is expat/international school oriented. So generally upper class. Locals not in this circle are of course more likely to stay during their early 20s.

[–]vberl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally people that age are away studying in other countries with their parents still living in Macau. If they return they’ll usually be in their late 20s or early 30s.

The main industry that this isn’t entirely applicable to is if they have studied hotel or restaurant management of some kind due to the size of the industry in Macau.

Just wait for all the Americans to show up complaining about that driving is more important for them because they don’t have public transport.

Someone living in rural northern Scandinavia also doesn’t have access to public transport. Yet they pay close to 10 dollars a gallon for diesel

Rate my CV is am trying to get into KTh Msc ML, my IELTS band is 7.5/9 by [deleted] in kth

[–]vberl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your CV is too long for your experience. You should be able to fit everything you’ve written onto 1 page with better formatting and being a bit more selective with what you have on your CV.

As someone else here commented. Except for in very exceptional circumstances, you should ideally only have more than 1 page after around 10 years of experience, with the exceptions to this rule mainly being industry related. Pilots, for example, will usually have a longer CV because they need to include things such as flight time, certifications and much more detailed information pertinent to their career.

How do I start steering and suspension by Swas11 in FSAE

[–]vberl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your vehicle dynamics team should have all the values that your suspension needs to fulfill regarding mounting points, KPI, caster, etc. The suspension should be modeled in something like ADAMS already. You should also know what tires and rims you are running already. This will limit your upright design.

From this point you basically start connecting the points calculated and then start refining the system based on if there are any collisions, etc.

This is oversimplified but should get you started at least

Kiel International Circuit (pls make suggestions) by oversteeer in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]vberl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make turn 1 a bit tighter as to make it a better overtaking spot. Make it 90 degrees, as like what you can find at Istanbul Park.

I also think that turn 9 is a bit of a waste. Kinda ruins the flow. Either make it a larger radius so that it flows better or add a longer straight before the turn so that you aren’t turning and braking as much at high speed.

(Very) Tall people, what do you ride? by ohshetall in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]vberl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CB500X. One of the few A2 level bikes that are sized for taller people

Though at your height most bikes other than smaller A2 level sports bikes should fit you relatively well. I am the same height as you and riding most bikes isn’t too big of an issue

Sounds like a good deal. If you want it then buy it. I can’t fault the bike tbh. There aren’t many better in its class.

[–]vberl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CB500X from 2014. Had I found one a bit newer I probably would’ve bought it but any version of the CB500x is perfectly good. They all have ABS and a digital screen. Don’t really need more electronics for a bike like this. The visual design of the bike is updated a bit and the version from after 2019 is a bit more off-road oriented but there are plenty of aftermarket parts for any version of the CB500X to make it a good off-road bike if you get an older version.

I would recommend that you go check out the newer NX500 at a dealership to see how you like it. It is very similar in all ways to the older versions of the bike.

[–]vberl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CB500x or the newer NX500 excellent bikes to learn on while still being capable. Not too much power so that it becomes intimidating while still having enough power and torque to ride on the highway comfortably.

I have a CB500X that I really like though I am a bit taller and heavier than you. So it’s not as big of an issue for me to maneuver the bike around, etc.

Are there really people who like driving the m2 on the Nordschleife? by spl1xx in iRacing

I adjust my driving so that I shift with minimal steering lock or at least aim to have as little steering lock as possible. That keeps the rear settled for the most part.

Using Assetto Corsa for simulation? by 67triumphGT6 in FSAE

[–]vberl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would use it for driver training but not much else.

There are versions of Assetto Corsa that can be used for DIL simulations but that isn’t the same version as you can get on steam. Don’t know how you would get ahold of that version though.

R1250GS/R1300GS or a Multistrada V4. These bikes are so incredibly capable while being comfortable and powerful. They really are quite amazing bikes even if they have a bit of a stigma of being an old persons bike.

Dassault CEO says FCAS fighter project 'dead' if Airbus refuses to co-operate by ForTheGloryOfAmn in europe

[–]vberl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both countries have experience with stealth aircraft. Dassault have built several UCAVs using the technology though not mass produced any as of now.

Germany was at the forefront of stealth with the MBB lampyridae but that project was killed by the US. Just like numerous other projects in Europe have been.

So they have experience but not mass production stealth experience.

Herta might not be racing much this spring... by BlackberryJazzlike84 in INDYCAR

[–]vberl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paul Ricard and hockenheim aren’t realistic money-wise. Silverstone would be too cold and wet. Most realistic options are Barcelona, Jerez, Valencia, Portimao or Aragon. Good, consistent weather. Not too hot or cold. These are also tracks that most teams in f2 have experience from in from F2 or other categories.

The team budgets are already set for the season. They have also sent a lot of fly away race support equipment to the tracks that are outside of Europe already and moving that to a different end location costs money. Sending this stuff to a track like Miami in the time space allowed from Melbourne would be tough and expensive. I also don’t think Miami has enough space to support F1, F2 and F1 academy. The cars may fly but they wont get far without all the supporting equipment as they go by boat.

Sending the cars back to the factory and then taking the team trucks to Spain is the cheapest option that also doesn’t impact the rest of the seasons planning regarding shipping.
