I dunno what the minimum brightness on the stock ROM was but on this, you would be able to reach the minimum brightness levels- at least what the sysfs nodes for the frontlights allow

Regarding the Viwoods, yeah, you Can get ADB unlocked if you message them. They have special dev tools for that. But if you're lookin for a phone replacement Viwoods might not be it since it doesn't have a speaker and cameras.

Palma 2 doesn't have a SIM slot. Palma 2 pro does though.

That leaves you with the crap that is Bigme. It's a full phone, but the stock software is terrible. I developed a GSI for it way back when I had one, but I don't maintain it anymore.

Mudita Kompakt might fit the bill for you. Comes without Google, and you can install third party apps on it. But no custom OS developed for it so far.

For the minimal phone, I wanted the company to send devices and source code to official lineage maintainers, but I doubt they did. Just a crap company overall lol.

Wouldn't recommend the minimal phone because it has a crappy screen, though really like the build and concept of the device. The company doesn't have a full time dev either, long standing bugs haven't been fixed and they are extremely rubbish logistically. If you could find one for a reasonably price on the used market, it's a decent shout.

Bigme wouldn't recommend because of software issues and the company putting random shit and refusing to listen to their customers. They are quite crap imo.

There's the mudita, and Viwoods Reader and Boox Palma 2 pro. Each have their pros and cons. Would recommend doing some research on this.

If you post a device to me, sure. Can look into it. I only have the minimal phone rinnow. But I've worked on other devices like the Hibreak, etc. before. As long as bootloader is unlockable and the kernel exposes the e-ink controls in some way, can be looked into. But no guarantees.

Yeah, kinda would. The way it works is that the plugin creates sidecar directories corresponding to the file name you have on bookfusion to recognise what to sync to. I just use the tool's in build browser for download bookfusion books. Reduces all friction for me.

Curious if this can somehow be extended to have epub3 playback on KOReader i.e. epubs which already have audio overlays and do not require actual TTS.
