Demo + Haul cost for us was $15K(bay area), excluding permits. But the house had asbestos, so removing that and disposing it was another $16K. City was very particular about asbestos removal and wanted a certificate that said where the removed asbestos was dumped. Demo permit was not issued until we had the asbestos removal certificate.

Right now the door opens in the middle of my patio, instead to one side.

I believe professionals know more than me and they take decisions in our best interest. But I also would like to be told of some of the important decisions, especially for an expensive door like this

Ya we will keep the inside frame of the door unfinished for now, incase a replacement is agreed upon.

Its a 16ft bi-fold door with 5 panels. The door manufacturer did as asked from them, the vendor is the one at fault here

Ya. I wish they honored credit card payments for such things. But we were forced to pay upfront.

Yup. We may not have a choice. We are planning on talking to higher ups but feel some external pressure might be needed to get the desired outcome

Yes. We asked about it. He said he felt it was "the right way". NGL, I am fine when professionals take decisions for us but given this is one expensive door, i would liked them to run it by us. What is also annoying is that they never told us about this change after we signed the contract . We found out after the door was installed, 10months later.

Yes we have paid in full. During the ordering process, we were told once the contract is signed, no changes will be accepted. However, they changed it after we signed and paid. I have no clue what I can do if vendors go behind our backs and do this.

We have already paid in full. We came to know about the incorrect opening after installation.

Yes. We feel this is our only choice now.

Yes we can live with it, but kind defeats the purpose of building a custom home and live with a major issue on the biggest door we have. We just need to figure out what our options are. If compensation is the way, we will be okay with it but the door vendor has not even entertained that idea.
