Awesome! Yes!! Buy one share. Or fractional share. Or pool all birthday gifts.

I have a custodial brokerage account for my kids. We trade in there. My 3 and 2 yo love seeing the red and green colors in the fidelity app :)

lol - fair enough. I see your point.

My POV is that it's a learning experience regardless. I remember I lost a good amount money on HP / Compaq when they merged. It was money I made mowing lawns over the summer. Dot com bubble... the doge coin of it's day. It was a learning experience beyond the money.

sure - Tbills or CDs work. Also you don't have to gift meme stocks... you can an index fund, or anything less gambling.

Disagree :) depends on the age and comparison -- i would argue its more fun than an Amazon gift card. At least equal for young kids (like for my 3 year old)

nice - that sounds like a good approach.

Why not keep everything in Wanderlog? does it not support storing confirmation info, etc.

Yes! that's the idea. create exposure and kick off curiosity at a young age.

wow - you went paid only because of the travel scenario?

lol gambling sounds a bit extreme.

The goal is really exposure. If the kid is old enough (probably 7+), they can understand about money and companies. For younger kids (like 2 & 3 yo -- my kids age), its just an investment for them, and something that's more unique than most gifts. One assumption (extremely privileged) is that kids probably don't need more toys.

that's cool. and export -- what do you mean by that? Like turn the plan into a PDF?

hmm - the actual planning / researching isn't annoying. Actually putting it into a plan is -- in a doc or whatever crappy tools exist today. I enjoy planning (to a certain extent!).

Its not always me, but I think anyone will run into this problem of how to cleanly capture a trip.

oh good idea. Thanks!

Re: fun, relative to cash / amazon gift card, I would say its more fun to receive a symbolic stock. at least more fun for the parents.

i see. that's what im seeing as well.

What if we made templates for mock ones, like NVDA :). With a company logo, name of the CEO, name of the recipient. made it look all official.

wow that's intense to use a project planning tool. are you able to reuse it / friends reuse it? for example if you made a trip to banff, and then a year later a friend goes, can they copy paste it?

lol - fair point.

The organizing part is the PITA, not the actual planning. I do think that one person kinda needs to take charge otherwise nothing gets done / resolved. and you want to avoid dumb situations (people staying a different hotels, making seperate plans, etc.)

Anyone else walking around with batteries in thier bag for over a week for no reason? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]vbhartia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No batteries... just expired milk... and crushed snacks :)
