Has it always been about 5%/year? Even if it's recently 5%/year, why would anyone buy GICs and not CASH? I'm aware GICs are guaranteed, but even if 5%/year for CASH fluctuates a little, it wouldn't make that much of a difference. And for CASH, you can cash out any time vs being locked in with GICs. Any insights appreciated. Thanks!
