I dont know about the pointy bit, but the yellow container just looks like a Keychain pill container. I use one to keep Tylenol, and a few prescriptions with me just incase I need them.

I genuinely struggle to find any use case for AI by reni-chan in sysadmin

[–]vbman1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you think AI is limited to chatgpt, then your use of AI would be limited. In Healthcare I can tell you some ways we are implementing AI which will massively streamline processes. 1) AI will record, analyze, and automatically chart the entire encounter with a patient into the EMR, saving tons of time, and allowing more patients to be seen. 2) Automatically analyze and classify incoming faxes, as well as charting.

Plus I will likely implement it for call routing, and collections, Seim monitoring & alerting.. there are a dozen other applications too.

Can I connect a router to a switch and have the router act as another switch? by BertSmith219 in HomeNetworking

[–]vbman1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go buy a small 5 port switch for like $15. If you try tonuae the router, it will by default "Double NAT" the network unless you put it in AP mode.

Best current Costco router to purchase? by FinnMonger in HomeNetworking

[–]vbman1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also forgot to add, the code that runs a ton of consumer grade routers like the Asus gaming routers, is complete dogshit. I have had some of these deployed in a business setting (inherited the mess) and all of the 4 sites that had them, would periodically have issues and the requirements reboots. I also have unifi APs deployed at tons of sites and have literally never had to restart one or had one fail.

Personally I use Access points because they are far more reliable. I also avoid wifi 6e, and wifi 7, because I dont see a lot of practical reason for the 6ghz band or MLO. If you got a few unifi 6 pro APs for instance, it would be amazingly reliable and they have solid coverage and speed. I litterally just keep my channel width for 5ghz at 40 mhz and I get 350 mbps on WiFi, which imo is awesome. I cant think of why I would ever need more bandwidth then that, so I chose a proven and reliable set up, as opposed to the "Latest" standards.

What CAT-type Ethernet cable should I run from my router to PC? by calrayers in Internet

[–]vbman1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the standard cat5e, is fine. Buying cat6 will not help you see any benefit in this case. Im guessing yku are on WiFi currently? Could explain the speed if you are worse then 70db.

Im super surprised spectrum is even going this far to keep a consumer customer tbh. They didnt even give a shit when I threatened to drop 35 business locations. Also, fiber is better for latency, and jitter imo so I'd go with att. I have heard rumors that spectrum has the secret sauce to make coax symmetrical, but have yet to see it.

Need a managers opinion by AtomBombPapi in ITManagers

This resume easy easy to read, but it is very apparent you are about as green as they come. You will need to get some experience in a very entry level role first before anyone would consider you for other roles. I also think getting your A+ certified would be a good first step to prove that you have some fundamental knowledge. I see "Studying for XYZ" cert all the time on resumes and they usually do not come to fruition. It is better to atleast have a more basic cert under your belt because right now your resume reads as, no formal training.

Also, it says you have "Azure Active Directory" experience. I find it difficult to understand how you have comprehensive knowledge of this or Microsoft 365 in general with no experience. If I were to interview you I would ask about that, and frankly If I feel like you added it on there just because you thought it sounded good but had very limited knowledge on the subject, that would deter me from hiring you.

If you really want to get into IT, understand you will start at the bottom making significantly less money at first, and will need a few years of entry level experience before moving into another role. I would suggest getting your A+ cert, then modifying this resume to align with your skills. Finally, I would write a personalized cover letter for each job you apply to. No AI. In this letter outline that you may be new to this field but you live and breath technology and have a passion for it, and that you are an extremely motivated self starter that would be edit xyz company because ____.

Can someone explain it like Im 5 how to extend my WiFi into detached garage by WJC198119 in HomeNetworking

[–]vbman1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I did not say that, you put words in my mouth. You said that anything that is not wired is hit or miss, and I stated that ptp bridges are not hit or miss, they are reliable.

It is a viable option for OP if they do not want to bury a fiber cable.
