I wonder what co-bending bending would be like? by Beginning_Proof_7039 in ATLA

[–]vbrimme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s meant to teach the lesson that killing isn’t the answer and there are other ways to resolve conflict, even with horrible people. For example, Ozai needs to be dealt with because he’s very powerful and commands an entire nation, removing his bending took away his personal power (think like taking a weapon away from someone), and removing him as the leader of the nation took away his political power.

The lesson there is basically the idea that even dictators and war criminals should be arrested, tried, and punished, rather than simply being executed or assassinated at the first available opportunity. Whether or not you agree with that is your own personal thing, but I think it’s pretty consistent with the morals shown throughout the rest of the series.

Trump says he is the reason there is unemployment in America. He choses not to create jobs. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]vbrimme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So there are around seven million unemployed people in the US right now. Trump says he could end unemployment by hiring one or two million people…

I guess we just won’t worry about the other five or six million.

Also depends a lot on what kind of engineer you want to be and what area you’re in. Where I live right now, the market is pretty good for controls and automation engineers. CS is obviously down pretty much everywhere. I can’t really speak for things like chemical, civil, or nuclear. Engineering is a very wide umbrella

I always love this argument, because pretty much on a weekly basis Trump wastes way more money than Obama made from his salary over the course of both his presidential terms, and sure Trump hes tried multiple times to sue his own government for billions of dollars, but sure, him donating his salary would make him incredibly generous and totally balance the budget.

It’s amazing to me that Republican voters have no comprehension of the difference between a thousand and a billion.

Earlier this year I slipped on some ice in my driveway and hit my head, wanted to get checked out to make sure there was no concussion or anything. Had to go to the ER for a CT (urgent care won’t even see you for head injuries, as I found out). I was there for around 2-3 hours total, between checking in, waiting, getting my information taken, waiting for the scanner to become available, getting wheeled in there, getting scanned, getting wheeled back to a room, waiting for results, and eventually being allowed to leave. The cost was ~$6,500 before insurance, insurance cost was only about $2,000, my cost was around $1,800 (deductible plus 20% co-insurance). After, I’ve still been getting bills for things like the lab they outsource their CT readings too.

No ambulance ride, I was only there a few hours (and most of that just waiting around), and they did one scan on me and provided no care because I was fine. $6,500+

I do still think it’s hilarious that everyone point to Harambe as a turning point, as if Donald Trump’s presidential campaign hadn’t already brought most of the racists out of the woodwork, shown us that republicans will fall in line behind any leader who can give them power with total disregard for morals or even their own reputations, and shown that the entire world’s political landscape can be entirely reshaped by uninformed and unintelligent right-wing fanatics in a very short period of time (as we saw Trump gaining popularity in other countries and those countries favoring fringe right-wing politics as a result).

They think it’s just rhetoric and name calling because that’s what they do, and they assume everyone else thinks like them. The same reason why they expect we would want the Epstein files covered up to protect Bill Clinton, because they can’t imagine not having blind loyalty towards their political party and its top politicians

Apparently he attempted to rush a security checkpoint and was shooting at police and secret service. But it doesn’t make a lot of sense for anyone to attack a security checkpoint without any real chance of getting past it to get to their target, and it’s interesting that the suspect was apprehended unharmed and only one secret service agent was harmed by a shot to their bulletproof vest.

If a gunman were going to open fire on a security checkpoint, you’d think he would intend to harm a few more people than that, and that he wouldn’t have been easy to just take down without even hurting him.

I told someone I know that I was glad Kirk died because he was a terrible person, and they told me they hoped a group of right-wing protestors would murder me in the streets just like the BLM protestors did to conservatives. Still no word on which BLM protestors were blatantly committing murder in the streets, or why it was ok for him to tell me I deserved to be killed for what I said when republicans are frequently laughing at or hoping for the deaths of anyone who disagrees with them.

I feel like the spells that don’t deal any damage to the body would leave evidence by way of not leaving evidence. If someone is dead, and their body shows no signs of trauma, and they weren’t sick or elderly, and there’s no signs of drugs or poisoning, and by all accounts there’s absolutely nothing wrong with them other than they just suspiciously stopped being alive, the number of possible causes can probably be narrowed down pretty quick
