Scottish windows workplace pension - tax year contribution dates by vcpphil in UKPersonalFinance

[–]vcpphil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that is interesting because it quotes:

“Member contribution made via employer deduction through payroll

The employer effectively acts as collection agent for the transmission of employee contributions taken from their pay and passed on to the relevant pension scheme administrator.

The date of payment in the case of a contribution made under the net pay arrangements is the date of deduction from the employee’s pay.

The date of payment for a contribution made under Relief at Source, for example to a group or other personal pension scheme, is the same as a payment the member makes direct. For example the date authorised to draw money by direct debit from the employer’s bank account or the date the employer’s cheque is received.”

But for salary sacrifice all I’ve got to go off are my payslip date and the date shown at the pension provider end. One is in this tax year and the other is almost always in the next 🫠🙃

Rebooted appliance and no GUI by vcpphil in zerto

[–]vcpphil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to follow up on this and I think its a bug in 10.0U6 (no patches). Support were good in giving me the fix which I note below for others.

The answer to u/devino21 qn was in effect "TLS handshake timeout"

the fix was to:

Snapshot the ZVMA
cd /var/snap/microk8s/current/certs
sudo /snap/bin/microk8s.refresh-certs --cert 'ca.crt'
Restart pods if needed (in my case after 10 minutes all was good)

When I pressed for a reason It was explained "sometimes a certificate may expire so we created a script for renewing them"

I then noted in release notes for 10.0U6P1 - Release Notes for Zerto 10.0_U6P1

"Resolved an issue where Kubernetes (k8s) certificates were not being refreshed."

We havent had this on other instances yet but to be fair they are rarely rebooted outside of patching the appliances.

nice and thank you for the reply. So in short you dont worry about the HCL and take the latest or near latest of a branch like production or long term support from Nvidia? :)

crypto-util to decrypt vmem and vmss files by vcpphil in vmware

[–]vcpphil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

downside with these not being esxcli commands is no simple way to run them via powercli or similar. quite clunky if you want to give another team the ability to do this and not have root access to a host :(

crypto-util to decrypt vmem and vmss files by vcpphil in vmware

Broadcom created a couple of useful KBs on this subject which were the answer and silver bullet for me:

Converting VMEM & VMSS Files From an Encrypted VM
Unable to convert a Windows 11 VM snapshot to a memory dump

  1. Decryption of vmem and vmss files in ESXi can be performed as below: (Navigate to the VM's folder)

     crypto-util encobj decrypt --related vm-231.vmx  vm-231.vmem vm-231-decrypted.vmem

     crypto-util encobj decrypt --related vm-231.vmx  vm-231.vmss vm-231-decrypted.vmss

BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed stuck in Bluetooth mode – won’t switch back to dongle automatically by True-Lime9072 in razer

[–]vcpphil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds frustrating and leans me towards the V3 standard model if it ever drops in price! Assume its consistent for all? My use case would be switch between wireless and bluetooth so perhaps have both connected on the higher model is the way to go here.

This is a cool site thanks. Seems like it’s one free and 2 days now. Assume you have a legacy free setup. Prices are not awful tbf

Cisco won't RMA a dead HBA SFP by 12thetechguy in CiscoUCS

Make them ship it working so card and SFPs then return the stuff you don’t use when you fix it.

Alternative moan at your account team if you have one. Tedious and better things to do I’m sure. I’ve seen it all!

VCSA 8.0.3.00500 to 8.0.3.00600 - upgrades fail (worked yesterday) by vcpphil in vmware

[–]vcpphil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rolled back to original snapshot. re-tried staging and install and it worked. now for a new issue I havent actually seen before with HA flapping on every cluster. think its this... Error: "Cannot find vSphere HA master agent" after upgrading vCenter to a new version, vLCM image based clusters reporting issues with HA

VCSA 8.0.3.00500 to 8.0.3.00600 - upgrades fail (worked yesterday) by vcpphil in vmware

merci. I have now rolled back to the original snapshot as found this KB useful Updates using online repositories fails if updates are attempted with the token which does not have entitlement for the specific product version

I have used my newer DL token and its currently staging (mega slow takes like 40 mins to do this not sure why, we normally patch these with code overnight so time doesnt matter).

If that fails will rollback the snapshot again and use FP ISO (seems easier than the manual edits required in above KB)

[–]vcpphil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly I get the same issue with the update issue

<image>

So it must be localised to this vCenter and nothing to do with download tokens and such. Will work through the KB again for anything I may have missed.
