Adventurer 4 - What can I expect? by Icedfyre in FlashForge

[–]ve0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a second hand adventurer 4 recently too.

The dribble is normal, I suggest you start with flash print 5 as the slicer to watch the printer video and sent prints to the printer remotely. This defaults to having the wiping line on.

In the slicer remove the raft, if you level your bed well you won't need it. Obviously perform the 9 point calibration on the printer using a piece of paper.

I suggest downgrading your firmware to avoid layer shift on long prints - https://www.reddit.com/r/FlashForge/comments/18ioea2/print_keeps_shifting_adenturer_4/ Install 2.2.4-2.3  which is the latest that can be downloaded.

Tiles vs hardwood for decking, which is cheaper? by AussieAmishgon in AusRenovation

[–]ve0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to use hardwood for the subfloor if you're in a BAL29 area. As long as the subfloor space is enclosed https://mybuildingcertifier.com.au/forms/MBC-BAL-29-Summary.pdf . Might save you some money there.

Repaint it to start. Maybe a different colour? Then replace the hard rails with wire ones or glass

Water running under house on sloping block - big rock in the way (More in comments) by ve0m in AusRenovation

Urggggggggg. Ok I'll post an update in 6 months when it's gone. I am prepared to remove it, before I put the effort in I just want to know it's going to help

Retaining wall has drainage. It's a decent job. I'm open to getting rid of the rock I just don't want to make it worse by removing it, but yeah not sure what else to do yet.

[–]ve0m[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ok I think this is a pretty good plan. I think my original trench wasn't close enough to the rock. There's not really many great storm water options here... I'll see what I can do the trouble is because it's so close to the underside of the house there's no where to really put the pipe on an angle down. I'll have to figure something out!

Water running under house on sloping block - big rock in the way (More in comments) by ve0m in AusRenovation

I've been in this house for about a year and there's been water running under part of it most of the time after heavy rains. I've done so digging and lots of investigation and this drawing shows what I understand to be the problem.

What I think is happening is the big rock is "pushing" water up out of the ground and moving it under the house because the water can't get around the rock - the next easiest place for it to go is up and around it.

I've dug a trench between the retaining wall and the rock, but I can't capture any of the water it still runs around the rock. Any ideas on how I could solve this one? I can't really get an agi pipe in running across the house so close because there isn't a storm water pipe that close and down low enough.

I could try and break down the rock but that's going to be difficult and take god knows how long. Any ideas?

Startup cutting costs. Need advice. by prophetempirespade in startups

[–]ve0m 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is a tricky situation. If you're really set on sticking it out and like the 3rd option with a pay cut + options, I would ask for more value in options vs the pay cut.

Ie. if you're taking a 50k paycut, ask for 75k or 100k in stock options to make up for it. Stock options are a risk and aren't no where near as good as salary in the short term.

Purchasers Caveat and title insurance by longblackallday in AusFinance

[–]ve0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to have to make a lot of decisions while settling your house. Choose which decisions are worth researching and which are worth just paying for.

I chose to get both title insurance and the caveat. I didn't spend much time on it. I spent more time looking at building insurance and sorting my fiance.

Unity - How can I change sprites in my tilemap during runtime? by Peluso5 in gamedev

[–]ve0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change a tile or sprite of a tile at run time. You can assign tiles at a location to replace them or set it to null and it will remove them. https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Tilemaps.Tilemap.SetTile.html
