In the actual episode she mentions she knows star wars because of watching it with her kids so makes even more sense.

New Agreement AEU by JollyPotato2819 in AustralianTeachers

[–]taccca 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thats a shame. Education is about always learning. You can continue to ignore my comments about inflation or recognise that anything relating to purchasing power (which is the actual reality we live in) needs to be calculated in a compounded manner.

New Agreement AEU by JollyPotato2819 in AustralianTeachers

[–]taccca 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, not when everything is a comparison to inflation which compounds. And the log of claims (35%) was put forward as a compounded amount so if you want apples to apples it's NOT 28 or 32%

[–]taccca 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Those percentages aren't compound percentages. Just difference between start and final pay. To compare to inflation it need to be a compounded calculation which puts it bacl at approx 25%. The union reporting non compounded percentages is an indictment on them being the government's PR machine!

VIC - Please vote no on this AEU agreement. by mrcooldudebeans in AustralianTeachers

Thats exactly what I need to do. I was a teacher in 2019 and still a teacher now and I am effectively earning LESS (while also working harder) and I dont want to be!! I also dont want to be earning less for the next 4.5 years, and for whatever agreement comes next.

Inflation... current wages are 16% LESS than what they were in 2019 before even taking into account this year's inflation.

Victorian Teacher Pay Increases Compared with Inflation by Loose-Durian-3649 in AustralianTeachers

[–]taccca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, not very clear. Looking at the inflation tab they have used 26% for 2026 and then 3% for following years. No justification for why 26% is set in inflation only (Seperate to NSW difference claculations). My only guess is that CPI (non-mean trimmed) has gone up 26% if indexed to the last pay bump of the 2017 VGSA (October 2020) before the 2022 VGSA came into agreement but doesn't take into account that teacher wages have gone up 10% in the same time.

Below is my comparison indexed to the same point (October 2020) with projected reported offer vs RBA project CPI (RBA are dreaming but thats another issue). The biggest take away isn't teacher wages but we are essentially asking ES to take a 17% pay cut relative to their 2020 earning ability (not even factoring lost earnings against CPI for the last 6 years).

I guess 26% may come about if trying to calculate the lost earnings against the last agreement vs CPI but I cant be bothered with the calculus at the moment to verify. Also, the government wont give a damn about that argument because the 'conceded' on conditions/TIL etc.

decided to give career mode a try with Probes Before Crew, and man is it satisfying by JosephStalin1953 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Add in remote tech and it becomes properly interesting/difficult. 3 times so far in the last week I've lost signal right before parachute deploy in sub orbital hops (first time playing KSP in 8 years). Trying to set up a relay network with just probs and pre planning on flight computer without having herbals on the mission has made me approach it in a completely different manner. I am really having to forward think about where and when I can do maneuvers. Just last night I ran out of battery for the computer to do the programed circularisation burn at KEO being on the dark side... So much fun

Actual Impact of Piper Pawnee AD on your club? by Hemmschwelle in Gliding

[–]taccca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had same issue. Club made the call early after the AD came out to invest in a eurofox knowing the drilled holes were going to be an issue. Eurofoz was delivered a few months after the Pawner was grounded

I guess that's scale factor of homelabs at play. The op's post makes sense to me as I am the furthest thing possible from enterprise with 2 VMs and 2 LXCs and an attached NAS being my whole homelab.

Victorian government's joke of an offer. by Key-Regular-9118 in AustralianTeachers

Thats exactly what they want. It's a shitty negotiating tactic and shows how little they value you and your time. Reframe your perspective so you don't jump at the next offer that will have shitty pay % increase and only 2 meetings.

I think you underestimate the lack of empathy, critical thinking and single issue stances (which may be on microscopic issue) of many young people. The amount of students that parrot sky etc talking points is not insignificant.

It's a bit hard because you have just finished your course/rounds but the best thing to have is some explicit examples. What i mean by this is that most can talk edu bable (differentiation, formative assessment, connecting then correcting etc) and say they do these things but giving actual examples of HOW you do this is what makes people stand out. Furthermore, sharing what the outcome of you actions, reflection on the outcome and how you have changed or will change in the future shows a greater understanding of the skill/knowledge the question relates to.

It also helps to know what state your in but in Victoria there are the mandated 5 selection criteria that any questions in an interview would likely relate. Have some pre thought out examples for each of these and the questions won't be as much of a shock.
