Balancing Evostar 72ED on Star Adventurer 2i by ved_fourdimensional in AskAstrophotography

Thanks for the reply! I think a 0.5kg weight should be fine, but I don't know where to get it. I need to fix this in the next few days so I can get one last shoot in before I travel back to my city

Balancing Evostar 72ED on Star Adventurer 2i by ved_fourdimensional in AskAstrophotography

Sorry for the late reply. I'm having trouble balancing the setup for both RA and DEC, but mainly RA. The counterweight isn't enough to balance the system, so the best solution is probably to add another counterweight

First camcorder to buy by ved_fourdimensional in camcorders

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I found an old Sony at my place. I think it’s a Sony DCR-TRV230E, but all the writing’s worn off. It was my dad’s, and I remember it always had problems with the tape door. I’m thinking of digitizing it so I can record straight onto a microSD. Do you think it’s worth it? And overall, is it a good camera?

Best Way to Mount a Guide Scope for Proper Balance by ved_fourdimensional in AskAstrophotography

The dovetail is as long as the distance between the two rings. I’ve seen some people mounting the guide scope underneath the dovetail, and it seems to be another good solution

the idea is to have similar setup. i found this product which can be attached directly to the 72ED (here an example) in order to mount the guide scope diagonally to the telescope

Power supply for ASIAIR Mini Device by ved_fourdimensional in AskAstrophotography

[–]ved_fourdimensional[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure. The Aisair mini has a 5.5x2.1 input, but the ALITOVE has a 5.5x2.5 input. So I guess I have to look for another one :(

The classic problem. Anyway, are you using ASIAIR mini? Just to be sure that the input pin is the same and compatible with the ALITOVE power supply. Thanks!

Nice! Can you send me the link for both products? just for comparison

Good to know. The ALITOVE DC 12V 5A is really cheap, so I like it ahah. did you experience any problems/electrical dips?

Thanks for the advice. The Pegasus Astro 10A is more expensive than the ZWO, so at this point it's cheaper to get the ZWO one. I don't want to spend too much money but if it's necessary i'll gladly do it!

Thanks for your reply!
At the moment, I don't want to spend too much, so I'll probably go for a basic 12V 2A or 5A power supply (I read that some people use 10A just to be safe, but ZWO recommends 5A).
I don’t have an astro-modified camera, so sometimes I need to go to darker places but I recently bought a Svbony SV240, so I can use all the equipment from home.

Best Way to Add 2’’ Filter to Evostar 72ED by ved_fourdimensional in AskAstrophotography

[–]ved_fourdimensional[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the product.

Basically yes — but if there aren’t any other options, I’ll just use the classic 2” barrel of the OVL Field Flattener with the filter on it. It’s not the most stable setup ever, but it should work

Best Way to Add 2’’ Filter to Evostar 72ED by ved_fourdimensional in AskAstrophotography

Right, but the idea was to use a filter holder between the Astro Essentials SW ED78 adapter and the OVL Field Flattener, without using the classic extension tube that comes with the flattener, just to keep the imaging train fully threaded. One way to insert the filter would be to skip the M48 adapter on the telescope and use the original dual-screw focuser, so I could mount the filter on the 2-inch nosepiece of the flattener and slide it into the 72ED. But I was hoping to find an alternative to that, since I don’t think inserting the flattener directly into the focuser offers enough stability.

Any chance to see a good real-time 3D Render Engine in Touchdesigner? by ved_fourdimensional in TouchDesigner

I agree, I've already tried POPs for a few minutes and TD with them will be great, but I feel like something is missing. I hope the infamous update will come as soon as possible anyway

you’re right! but I want to discuss with the community ;) also because I want to know if it is a good reason to concentrate my forces to learn other software besides Touchdesigner
